When I check a player in the game plan menu, it will say it is playing a particular skill card. Are all the skill cards active? Does the one it identifies have more precedence? If it does can I change the skill card?

I was going to change the role of my SS to CF and he had one skill active for CF and for SS he had 2 active (CF the second on was grayed out and each player had at least 4 or more skill cards total).

C'mon throw a dog a bone if you know the answer.

Hi, unfortunately the ability of turning the skill cards to on/or off has been removed by Konami in this version i dint know why?

so now only by editing player position will enable or disable them.

Yes. To clarify, the reason that you are seeing cards enabled and disabled is because most cards are only available to certain positions.

You can check which cards work with which positions, as well as the specific function of the cards, in edit mode.

Thanks guys for the help. I am still confused but I will just pretend all cards are active at all times. If someone is good at dribbling and have 4-5 cards for dribbling (green stat cards), I can only assume all would be active.

I like to cross so I like to try and find CF's with the Fox in the Box skill card (orange stat card). Now if the CF has other orange stat cards, the cpu could just randomly pick another one besides the one I want? So basically I have a skill card that is not all that prominent and serves the purpose of my crossing offense but the cpu could just disable my card?

I have Googled and Binged with no luck. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Also trying to find some more info on this one mate. Way I take it is that the cards only come into play if they are highlighted, otherwise why would Konami grey the other ones out? Need to check when you're putting players into roles on your tactics screen- for example it may be worth losing a point or two of your rating if some skill cards are activated.

Another point (and this is just my own guess so don't take it as true lol) is that it only seems to be the 'P' cards selected within the roles? This means they are probably based on the position, whereas the 'S' cards are skill cards that should then be active no matter where your player is put and what role you assign him? So, in theory, Kaka can still do a roullette whether he's at RB or SS, but he wouldn't do a darting run from RB whereas he would at SS? If anyone has a proper answer please let us know

On another slightly different note I came across this link in another thread and it is so useful so thought I'd pass it on, apologies, dunno who made it:

hope this is of some use!

From my experience the theory about position cards and skill cards seems about right.

I'll take Diego Forlan as an example. One of his skill cards is Long Ranger. If you play him as a CF then it will deactivate, as a SS it stays activated.

This means if you are playing against a CPU Forlan or you are playing coach mode with Forlan on your team (basically any situation where the game engine controls Forlan) he will behave differently if his role is CF or SS, even if the little dot on the pitch is in the exact same spot in game plan.

The SS Forlan will be shooting a lot more long distance whereas the CF Forlan will try to get in closer on goal.

I'm pretty sure it works like this with the other cards as well.

cheers alx, that does make sense in a proper game too, if he's in a role SS where he's expected to drop deeper than a CF then he would take more shots from outside the area and vice versa- sounds like a decent job by Konami so far!

Does anyone know how much the cards help- any stats or anything to show that it increases speed by x points if you have a speed merchant card etc?

The cards increase the overall rating but I believe the individual stats remain untouched. Remember, like half the cards just affect the behavior of the player, not his stats.

Speed Merchant doesn't make him faster, it just allows players to sprint and turn much faster. You'll be able to tell this immediately if you try sprinting with say Villa (speed merchant) and Torres (not speed merchant).

Marking just means the player is better at staying tight with his opponent when you manually assign an opponent player to be marked. I think this ability card replaced the old style where you could pick between 2 levels of intensity when marking players (tight and normal I believe).

I think its roughly the same for all the other S ability cards. They probably have a bonus effect in the game engine (maybe it affects the random factor) but again, I don't think they do stuff like dribble speed + 5, defence + 3 etc. The only one that theoretically does this is Super Sub as supposedly it allows a player to have a bigger impact when brought on late in the game. That might work like the form arrows which add/remove a certain percentage to each stat.
