Konami obsession with old players

Lord Shrimpeh

NAY WE ARE BUT MEN. ROCK.
Even on PES3 Konami is obsessed with old players who used to be good but refused to admit young players can be good to. If they shone in a world cup, or were good ten years ago they still are! Whereas new talent isn't good on PES3. For example Robbie Fowler has better stats than Anelka. Rivaldo is the best midfielder in the game despite not getting many games for Milan and Wayne Rooney, C. Ronaldo, Lampard, Terry etc have rubbish stats even though they do better than many of these aging stars! Admitedly they are making progress, in PES1 the classic players kicked ass, in PES2 the best players in the world started to have nearly as good stats and finally many not so famous stars from teams such as South Korea and Senegal are good in PES3. Lets hope they make young players more realistic next time.

batistuta is on pes3? where? i cant find him!!

Master league, search under country
but i am not sure if i can play him outside of ML? is that possible

the most underrated player on PES3 has to be john terry. but still thought the older players are good but not as physical and konami dont lower the speed or anythin.
i saw a clip of robben the other day and he was quality, on pes3 he is shite.

There is no way John Terry is the most underrated player in the game. If you look at the Rangers and particularly the Celtic team you will see,
Alan Thompson
Chris Sutton
Jackie McNamara (the didn't even get his position right!)
Bobo Balde
Stefan Klos

all of those players' stats are completely wrong.

agreed, my first season in ML division 1, Celtic finished next to last and was almost relegated to Div. 2...now i'm sure there will be plenty of arguements about how Celtic (and Rangers, too) would fair in the EPL, but they certainly would not be relegated.

I agree that John Terry is underated. I think that Celtic are about right. You can't have Alan Thompson with stats. as good as Giggs, or maybe Recoba. I think they got Alan Thompson about right. Larsson is amazing on the game.
Konami can't make Celtic brilliant until they have seen consistently good performances in Europe. I have to agree though they have played some great football this Season in Europe. Expecially against Barcelona! Marshall has to be on the next PES!!!!!

If Rivaldo tries when he gets a game, you would say he is underrated on the game.

joerog, have you ever seen Alan Thompson crossing the ball, he is easily as good as Giggs in that aspect. Sutton on the game is terrible, he is in reality a great player who should really be a part of the England squad. They didn't even really bother with the Celtic team anyway. Have you seen Jackie McNamara, they didn't even bother to get his position right. That's is just one of konami's half hearted attempts at their players.

Yeah. I agree but I think Giggs is stil better, maybe not a centering the ball. Sutton is a good target man and I agree, he should play for England upfront with Owen, with Rooney sitting just behind the 2 strikers.
As for Sutton's stats, I think he does need improving slightly, but not so that he is better than Raul. Maybe a lot more 80's/ 70's. Anyway, I don't really see much of Celtic, so I'm not one to judge.

I think Konami didn't really update any of the player stats because i remeber on pes2 ronaldinho was really crap and thought he's so going to be amazing on pes3. But obviously Ronaldinho is abit crap on pes3 so it looks like they didn't really bother to modify his stats along with others. Also if you remeber Fiorentina were on pes2 even though they were demotted before pes2 was relseased, so i think really it just comes down to konami's lazyness :p

but i think ronaldinho is deceptively good...his stats dont give much away...they make him seem pretty crap...but then when he plays...hes a bit of a george weah (god-like!) haha!

Most overrated player on PES 3 for me has to be Viduka. He is as good as Raul all be it a different player even on the game.
But the whole Leeds team is too good to start with as they keep finishing in the top three of the round robinds I do with just English teams. Barmby is a joke! I had to laugh when I saw his stats.

Duff is underated to say he is up there with Terry and Lampard as Chelsea's most influencial players this this season (when he is on the pitch). Actually I had to vastly improve all three players.

Van Der Meyde and Van Der Vaart are much worse than they actually are.
Nearly everyone in the Newcastle team apart from Shearer needs improving atleast slightly, but especially Given as he has been in the top 3-4 keepers in the premiership for about 5 years more or less.

Although I agree with a few changes - like Terry and Duff there is always going to be these complaints since people have different views on players. Terry and Lampard have only just started to get into the England side within the last year so maybe this has a bearing on it???? And with all the hype around Chelsea this season maybe we are not considering what Konami based their judgement on before they released the game and are more focus on the players form at the moment.

Certain stats don't matter at all in my opinion.

Take a player like Zidane.

You can't control him like Zidane moves, with the same powerful grace, and he ends up being no better than somebody with a decent pass or technique rating.

It's the same with Beckham. In PES Beckham will quite often wildly hoof a cross behind. Does Beckham EVER do this in real life!?

I think the only stats that matter in PES are Speed and Technique. If a player has those two then they're brilliant, no matter what the stats are for other aspects.
