Loss, Loss, Draw, Loss, Draw, 5 star ML, can anyone give me some tips

Lo all,

I am now playing ML with FC Porto on 5 stars, i played around 15 matches and i am now at the bottom of the ranking list :(

On average i get 4 shots on goal in a match while the CPU usually has 12-20 shots on goal.

I just cant seem to keep the ball in posession and pass it well between the players (standard players are so BAD :p).

Does anyone have some tactics/tips for me so i can at least get out of the negative funds? And wich strategy or attack level i should use?

Cheers

try playing a 30 minute match on 5* against a good team so you can have a lot of time to get used to the difficulty

You should only play ML mode on 5* once you are comfortable playing on 5* with normal teams such as a full club team or a national team. If you can win the International Cup on 5* with anyone then ML shouldn't be too difficult.

If 5* ML is too hard, it may be worth stopping your ML mode to practice on 5* or take it down to a lower level first.

Otherwise, design a formation you are comfortable with and make it to suit the players you have available too. Pick players who are on better form arrows and fitness/stamina level. Use strategies to assist you too.

Use the Force! :)

4 shots on goal?? Why arent you playing on 3 or 4 * then?? And 12-20 shots for CPU is 2 much. Defend in the future. Try to know where the openent is going and be there before he is. Dont defend with Automatic defence the whole time.Only when you are at a long distance from youre enemy. And there are allready threads about the formation. But i play 4-3-3 with 2 attacking midfielders. Everybody got his own favourite. Run alot with R2, for me this is THE button for running and shooting. And another tip: you must learn 2 get past a defender!! It is hard but not impossible. Just turn quikly and make the opponent CRAZY!! I hope i helped you a little bit, mate !!

All right lads, thanks for the advice all.

Recently i played a match and started it with the new quickstart option, i won the match with 4-0, when i looked at the options i saw that the difficulty was set to 5 stars..... whoa!!! Did i do that? Lol

I think ill have a try at the international cup first with a strong team then.

Cheers

when defending don't just slide in. If it is last man, keep back pedaling towards your goal and press 'x' or saquare when he is right next to you. Sliding gets you out of position and gives them a clean way through. Also do simple balls acros the pitch and have the view on default long or wide. This way you can see where your team mates/ oponents are thus meaning it will be simpler for you to see where to pass and not to pass.

the best tip i can give you is "learn how to defend" because, if you dont concede goals. even if you draw 20 out of your 24 games you wont finish bottom!

try passing the ball round and keep possession until there is space!

my "bad" runs usually go draw, win, draw, draw, draw, draw, win, lose, draw, draw. but even though thats 7 draws in 10 matches its 7 points you wouldn't have gained if you lost!

Well i have played 2 practice games of 20 minutes on 5 star difficulty:

1st match Juventus vs Inter

I was soon 2 goals behind and i thought: no, here we go again!
But then i was able to turn the tide and i won the match with 4-2 :)

The second match was a bit bigger challenge, Celtic vs the best club team in the game: Arsenal. I won the match with 4-1.

I have the following strategy: keep practicing on 5 star level with a duration of 20 minutes, but everytime a bit weaker team, so ill end up with AS Monaco who are the weakest and then i hope that i will be able to defeat Arsenal with Monaco. The differences between Monaco and the standard players are not too big.

(Monaco isnt so bad at all, they beat the crap out of deportivo)

Thanks for the feedback m8s.

Cheers

Well i just played my 1st 5* on ML after dominating on 3*..i just wanted to skip 4*...1st game Santos vs Bayern Munich..they scoreD 5 goals in 30 min of the 1st half..3 of them were the most flukiest goals i have ever seen ..and the other two was of the most supreme accuracy. I will tell you this the cpu can be the most rigged ever..but on the good side..in the second half i climberd back to 5-4..so goals are a possibility..my defending is still shit as!! But i get so frustrated when a crap player can weave through 3 of my defenders with eaze. i think basically to be good on 5* if your a good attacker..work on your defence, learn to use a lot of one-touch pass, try to keep possesion on your half, use some strategies based on formation and counter attacks..and the most important...LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robinho's right, luck is hugely important on 5*. my first ML 5* match was Vs Man U (ironically), i had 70-80% possession and 6 shots to their 1......they won 1-0,

it is all about luck, and the were lucky b*stards!

May be you should switch your formation ...for example I read a lot of people are comfortable with a 3-5-2 ...tried it and had 7 draws in a row ... with like 4-4 chances of scoring .

Then got back to a 4-3-3 ...magic! (to me at least) I still lose sometimes but I'm scoring a lot more ,that's for sure .:p

In my ML..i use a 4-4-2 good defence and midfield..but most games end in a draw..or a win by 1..then i just played a few games of exibition matches using brazil with a 3-6-1 on 5*.. ive won 5 games in a row against england, italy, france and argentina..by margins no less then 2 goals..i just beat germany 5-1..im thinking since im so attack minded i might change my ML team to maybe a 3-5-2.

i played a good old fashioned 4-2-4 the other day,

---------GK
RB---CB---CB---LB

----CMF----CMF

RW---CF---CF---LW

its not great for a clean sheet obviously, but great for attacking fun, i was 3-0 down when i tried it, i still lost 4-3 but it helped me score three quick goals!

Lord Shrimpeh

NAY WE ARE BUT MEN. ROCK.
In my first season on five stars i finished the season bottom scorer, the next season top. The difference was i added wingers. Its easy to score then, you run towards the byline until the defenders peal of then turn towards goal cross or even better dribble into the area where you can either shoot or pass to a cf or omf who will score from 12 yards! Works everytime.

I play 3-5-2 as I think PES3 is much more about the midfield battle and passes than its previous incarnations. PES2 was probably more about options up front and I played 3-4-3.

The 3-5-2 has two defensive mids (Cannavaro and Beckenbauer at the mo) who don't let much go past tehm - they're just always there when you need them. One OM in Maradona and then two side midfielders to do the supporting attack/defense roles - I've currently got Babangida and Kewell, but bear in mind I've only bought 9 players so far.

I'm on 3* at the mo and just started a new season in D1 after being promoted last season. W3 D1 so far...

I think people are overlooking the fact just like in real life...your squad needs continuity...dont reshuffle and mess around with your starting lineup every single match...Im using Parma 5* ML...and have bought most of thier current players Adriano, Nakata, Junior etc

at the start of the season I was D,D,W,D,L,D

now my Champs League record was 4 wins so far in the Group Stage

I wondered why we were suffering so much in the league...I soon realized that I was resting players too much in preparing them for the CL matches resting 2 even 3 of my prefered starting lineup

obviously form plays a big part...conceeded two goals in your past two games...emphasis defence and try to get a clean sheet...break the trend

wondering why your superstar striker isnt scoring...my example is Adriano...he hadnt scored in 5 games...so I win a penalty bring him on as a sub...let him take it...and what do you know...next 3 matches his scored 2/3

its all about form...if your going to rest your players...only take 1 ...but make sure you bring him back in the starting lineup...or else u will stuff up your Winning Eleven

3rd seasons I played 5* ML and Won the league.
I Think what we have to do is to adjust ourself to the game play. Basically pes3 is so different from pes2. So in order to get used to the game we need to start from lower stars game such as 2 or 3 stars or maybe 1 star would be good. No need to force urself adjusting to 5* if u haven't understood pes3's gameplay. so I spended first 2 seasons with 3 stars games. and when i was in my 3rd seasons i used 5* and the result was winning the league 1st division with arsenal 3 points and chelsea 6 points tailing me muaahahahaha. ~MU~

I normally play 4-3-3, I tried 4-5-1 for a couple of games but I just can't play with lone striker, so I went back to 4-4-2 then adjusted to 4-3-3 the next season, and support play is so much easier. I usually play the CF a little bit behind the wider players because it makes it easier to stay onside and play quick through balls.

i always struggle with a lone striker.
nevadi's right in my opinion, continuity of your team and confidence/form play a huge part
