Manual pass?

In all my years playing PES I've never tried using the manual pass. But, after playing 2011 for a couple weeks and seeing pass after pass go to the wrong guy and seeing AI teammates refuse to run into open space I've decided to give the manual pass a try in the hopes that it will make the passing better.

So I opened the instruction novel to see how to do a manual pass and this is what I read:

"While holding the LT button, push the right stick in the desired direction and press A or Y button to execute the pass."

Huh? How is that even physically possible? I only have one thumb on my right hand I'm pretty sure. How do I use that one thumb to hold the R stick while at the same time pressing a button? Am I supposed to contort my hand to an unnatural and uncomfortable position so I can somehow get my index finger on a button while in the middle of a game? I just tried it on the controller and the human hand doesn't really work like that.

Your supposed to use your nose!!!

EDIT: X-Box controller wasn't relly designed for the human hand anyway ;)

Sad you don't read well enough... same as if you didn't even consult the manual at all. At least I have no problem to press LT = Left Trigger (also called L2on a PS controller) with my left hand fingers while pressing A / Y with my right hand fingers....................... omg

And I AM playing on an XBox-Controller, can't really confirm that it wouldnt meet my gamers expectations of a enjoyable control unit.

Are you a contorsionist? :)

Seriously, how do you do this? You use your left hand for the left stick and then you are supposed to press the R stick while at the same time hitting the A button. How is that even possible while in the middle of the game. I suppose if you lay the controller flat on a table you could do this, but that wouldn't be very condusive for playing the game for obvious reasons.

You mention that I am reading the instruction book wrong, please tell me how that is so. The instructions I posted in this thread were taken word for word out of the book.

Please help, I'm not trying to be a complainer or a jerk, I really don't understand how to do this move and I want to learn since it seems very important given how broken the passing appears to be in this game.

I use manual pass for about 90% of passes, the crucial thing is to make sure your player is positioned correctly in order to create an angle. Awkward at first but after a while it becomes second nature, we should have an option for manual pass without having to press LT next year.

I don't get what the OP's issue is, just a case of getting used to it, the instruction manual is clear about what to do.

I have my thumb on the LS, and use one finger for LT.

I understand how to use the LS and LT at the same time, that isn't the issue. The issue I am having is the second part of the instructions where it says to press the RS in the direction you want to pass while at the same time pressing A or Y. This doesn't seem physically possible. I use my R thumb to press the RS, but then when I try and get to the A or Y button my fingers are bent in the wrong spot due to my thumb being on the RS.

I didn't read your first post properly to be honest, you don't have to press the right stick to perform a manual pass in pes 2011, just play it as you would a normal pass but press the LT button and aim with LS, the same goes for a manual long ball.

Well that makes a lot more sense. Thank you very much! And thank you Konami for having such an efficient editing staff for your instruction manual. That's kind of a big mistake to make in the manual, mixing up right and left. Maybe they didn't catch it cause they only look for typos and technically, though they may not know their right from left, they do know how to at least spell the two words.

Exactly the same here... I overlooked your Right Stick-part too. Maybe the manual says it like that but from my experience and subconscious right-doing I can tell you: You don't need the Right Stick for performing a manual pass... just aim with Left Stick, press Left Trigger and do the pass of your favor.... Sorry for late answer but I thought the problem was solved. And of course you're right: Nobody would ever be - ergonomically - able to perform actions with the Left Stick + Right Stick + one of the four buttons... at least not with total control of all directions on both sticks... except geniuses maybe, but I'm not... *g*

As far as I know this year the Right Stick is only for tricks...
