Manual passing masters...

In my quest for gaming perfection, I have been trying to master the art of passing the ball manually (on xbox by aiming with the right thumbstick and pushing thumbstick in). I have been practising by playing a few games and passing only by using this move, and have gotten ok with it.
I was wondering if anyone has mastered using this move, how often you actually use it, and how useful it is?

I used it quite a lot in PES4. It was useful for through balls into the box or down the line. It was also nice for backheels or getting out of situations where players are around you.. I think you have the X-Box version, but for it to work effectively on the ps2 it has to be assigned to the right stick. It is on default for clicking the right stick and stuff, which is just a mess.

Thanks for the tip mate :) I just changed the button settings then, and it is MUCH easier to use than pressing the thumbstick in.
EDIT: This method forfeits the use of the Marseille routine (the spin turn - by rotating right thumbstick) - is there any way to be able to do the spin turn while manual passing is set this way?

it was useful for doing backheels and catching people out in PES4 but every time i try it in PES5 the player just turns around and passes the ball

I think that in PES4, the right stick was a 'skillz' stick. e.g Flicking it forward would do the step over, all aroung would do the Marseille. But it was useless as you could do the tricks better with the shoulder buttons.

But I think that once changed to the manuel pass you have to press the right stick in (R3) and rotate which is rather fiddily.

Also, if you press :L1: as you do the manuel pass I think you do a chipped manuel pass. ;)

.....and that`s what I allways use to make a good counter attack! if you are on your half, left or right side (or up and down-depending how do you define it, anyway: close to the sidelines), just push analog towards opposite corner and fill bar up till the end, and it will perform beautiful cros for yur striker to chase the ball. Give it a bit of practice, and you won`t regret it, especialy if you play with 3 strikers...
