Nope. I agree with his default stats, but a few tweaks needed such as a bit higher stamina. His rating was based on his SS position. He is godlike in agility, dribbling, and acceleration. However that is all. He doesn't have a great shooting ability like Ronaldo, neither strong body balance like Drogba, superb stamina like Kuyt, or passing like Xavi. In short, he is not an all rounder.
He is currently 94 though in my master league after 4 years.

^Actually messi's shooting is great. He places the shot not powers it like Ronaldo and in my opinion messi's accuracy in shooting is better than Ronaldo's. Also no player is all rounder. That's why there's a team for that. But how come Ronaldo is 97 and messi is 84? It doesn't make sense. The things Ronaldo has over messi are: power, balance and freekicks and tricks.
However the things messi has over ronaldo are: accuracy, shot technique, dribble speed, agility and much more of a team player. So I think that overall they should be the same.

His shooting is not great, but it is good. I think Messi prefers to do placed shooting because he doesn't possess much power like Ronaldo. Yes he has better accuracy but not that much. Also, I believe Ronaldo is 90 on the default stats, not 97.
If you set Ronaldo as an SS (same as Messi's) on his registered position, not WG, his overall value will decrease by few points. I don't remember by how much though.

Ofcourse messi places because he doesn't possess much power, but that's a stat aswell. Not everyone can place the ball. Remember what volleys and lobs messi scored. Those were the technique I was talking about.
Anyway I believe ronaldo is 97. I'll check it out to make sure.

I think what's inacurrate is the way in which these overall ratings are produced. It's entirely subjective. How good someone is depends on their individual attributes and where you play them, not a meaningless, generic number. Some people might think a winger with acceleration of 90 something, top speed of 85 etc. should have a rating of 90. Some people might think 95. Then Konami say he's a 85. It means nothing atall.
Bearing in mind, these overall ratings aren't just decided. They change when you edit attributes, so there must therefore be somekind of mathematical formula for each position to calculate this rating.

I think it's ok,he's stil young and can become much better.
