Do the European option files work on the N.American PES2008 game ?

If they don't, is anyone aware of where i can get a option file for the US version of the game. Its due out tomorrow and i'm chomping at the bit to play!

I live in the States and have been wondering the same thing. I assume that the European files will not be compatible since they haven't in years past but as I am not very adept with most things computer related I can't be certain. If anyone does know about the compatibility a response would be greatly appreciated and if anyone is planning on creating or reformatting an OF for the American version good luck and please keep us updated.

Ha, you really think somebody will make an OF in 1 day?

errrrm yea ? hehe, No not really. it was an open ended question just to see if i'm gonna pay yet another price for moving to the US where the Football isn't appreciated as much as in europe. I'm hoping some of the Euro-problems will have been ironed out for the N.America version also, since it took 5 extra months to come to us. But i know thats just wishful thinking.

Can't wait to be able to play as my home team SAFC on there. Wheres Kenwyne jones btw ?? scandilous!!

If anyone is aware of a US OF please let us know.

thanks

P.S. Any US gamers who are getting the game soon. If you wanna discuss the pros and cons of the game as newbies to the 2008 edition instead of listening to the veteran European players talking about it, let me know and we could open a new thread for people new to 2008 for PS2.

I'm curious as to if the short pass freekicks are still going to go towards the opposite player i aim for

I'm in North America ,too and I have been wondering the same thing. Last year when PES 2007 came out in North America, Pategano did a fantastic job of converting the OF to American version. Is he going to do it again? If he is, I would jump off the cliff for the joy.

I'm getting PES2008 tomorrow too, let's share some expereince North Americans!!

Yeah, I will be picking this up tomorrow too. I hope someone is able to convert an Euro option file too. I wish I knew how. I just hope Konami didnt screw up with the coding like they did last year, remember the mixed up faces, those sucked.

Oh yea, my friends and I are in debt to Pategato and his collegues for hours upon hours of edited option file induced controller throwing and mother insulting Pro Evo play, I can only hope that comprable memory card updates will be availabe for the PS2 this time around so that I can be called a cheater by my buddies when I pull one across the six from the end line for a tap in, or when I start amassing cards for horror show tackles in order to defend a one goal lead in the waining moments while playing with Liverpool instead of Mersey Side Red.

Maybe its just cos i'm new to this N.America thing. I've been waiting since Oct for a release date for the PES2008 N.America game. So i wait and wait and wait some more. Finally i hear March 11th. I preorder the game at gamestop. Walk in yesterday, they look at me like i just farted and laughed in their little asthmatic way that the release date isn't the day its available in stores, only to be mailed out. I never heard of such a thing. A movie's release date is the date you can see it. A dvd release date is the day you can buy it in store. A football Replica shirt's release date is the day you can walk home from the store wearing it. Yes sir'ee i guess i'm an idiot for expecting it yesterday!!??!! I think my spidey senses can still hear them laughing

I was told that the game would be available today and a friend of mine dropped a whole five extra dollars to ensure that the game store would have a copy of it, so I am just waiting on his phone call, I wouldn't be surprised though if something goes amiss.

Yea, i put down the $5 to reserve a copy and (i'm told) will receive a call from the store when its ready too. Maybe its the 5 month wait making me impatient but its 11:07 and i not heard nuttin yet. knowing my luck, they'll not have it in till the weekend, and everyone else who didn't put down $5 will go to walmart and buy it today.

Hey, i just made a thread regarding general discussions for N.American 2008 gamers if anyone is interested in praising and hammering the game once they've played it. I'm new to online gaming (and maybe newly retired if the lag doesn't stop in every 2nd half i ever play), so i'll make sure i keep people busy with online questions. If you have any comments or questions lets hear it!

I got it too, but the eu option file wont work unless someone can convert it to ntsc. I hope the mixed up faces dont return. Or else i might have to buy the Pal version. Do modded ps2 play pal versions?

Its almost the end of my work day, and i've still not received a call from gamestop. I'm hoping they have it in, otherwise what the hell did i bother reserving it for, i might aswell just buy it online and get it shipped

I don't have PES 2008 (yet), but somebody might want to try converting the European files using PS2 Save Builder. This trick worked with the last two versions of WE/PES, although you'd obviously need to change relevant details (ie, using proper PES2008 references):

Now to the matter at hand, in order to convert PES5 option files to WE9I option files all you need is a handy (and free!) little program for the PC entitled PS2 Save Builder, you can get it from:

http://www.ps2savetools.com/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=1&min=10&orderby=titleA&show=10

It's about halfway down the page.

Download, extract, and open that bad boy up.

Now in the Save Builder, you want to do the following:
1. Open the save file you want to convert (i.e. the PES5 option file you downloaded from evo-web, or wherever).
2. Now you should see the Root/ID as something like: BESLES-xxxxxPES5OPT, underneath that, you should see three file names and their sizes (the BESLES-xxxxxPES5OPT, icon.sys, and icon_view).
3. Click the first filename twice until you can edit its text.
4. Now in place of BESLES-xxxxxPES5, write "BASLUS-21220WWE9OPT" (the BASLUS portion notifies that it's an NTSC game, the 21220 is the five digit code on the spine of the game, and the WWE9OPT is the pathname used by the game for its option files).
5. Save the file, exit, and export that mammajamma to your memory card.
6. Turn on your hot copy of WE9 and enjoy.
