Whats the best way to negotiate? What are the main differences between going direct and letting your scout handle it.

Cant believe im asking a noob question. I thought i was better than this.

The only players that I have signed so far are from the scouts reccomendations.

Everytime I select a player myself the negotiations fall through!

Advise please :)
