Having played some FIFA recently I have to admit that the game feels realy next gen with smooth animations, ball physics and generally a sweet randomness feel. PES still has the upper hand in gameplay, with less exploits and more depth in AI and off the ball but the engine with the rock-scissor-paper calculations and limited freedom and animations is getting old.
I somewhere read a rumor about redesigning the engine for the next release. Does anyone know something about it? A PES game in heart with a smoother and more fluid surface like FIFA's would be a dream come true..
