New To Patching....

Ok......

Im new to the whole patching side of things. Every year when the next PES series comes out, I usually just edit all the strips etc myself. But this year, im kinda thinking of getting a max drive to get the "real PES experience" that most of you seem to do.

I've read the guides on patching etc but what I dont understand is why there is so many files etc to choose to Download. Ideally, id be looking to get a patch that has the champions league ad boards etc instead of the default Konami ones. When PES5 is released, will there be a file like that??

Also what do you do with the faces an apperances that other posters have made as ive noticed that you can Download them as well...Is that for the MaxDrive as well??...Also the kit templates that are all layed out flat etc and also the boots as well that ive seen in threads?? Ive also noticed in a video that someone had posted that the seats at Old Trafford had the "Vodafone" signs on the seats?? How do you do that?? :unsure:.......

Does my PS2 need to be chipped??....I have 2 PS2's in my house, one chipped and one is not...

As you can see im new to all of this and no doubt knowing my luck that either...

OK. I've answered all of this about 78,253 times before and this will be the last time. This thread will also be made a sticky so hopefully no-one else will have to ask these yet again.

1. A Max Drive is a small USB hard drive that allows you to copy memory card files onto it and then transfer them between your memory cards and pc hard disk. This means you can backup any save files for ALL PS2 games onto your max drive and then copy them to your pc hard disk as a great backup in case anything bad happens and you lose all the data on your memory card. It also allows you to download updated option files for any PS2 game and then transfer them to your memory card which saves you many weeks of manually updating the PES/WE games yourself, so you can just get down to play the game which is what most of us want to do!

Updated option files contain only data that can be changed using the ingame edit mode. This includes team names, player names, player stats, ingame edit-mode kits, transfers - just everything changeable in Edit Mode.



Patching your game is different from the above. You obtain an 'image' of the disk of your original game - an image is a large .iso file which contains all of the data from the disk. An iso file can be manipulated by opening it using certain software such as CDMage, dkz Studio and others which allow you to edit parts of the game such as adboards, the actual kit templates, pitch surfaces, stadia, menu screens, music, chants and more. You can download updated files for all of these and import them into the iso which replaces the original files with the updated patched data. You can also download a simple patch file which you apply to your iso (using ppf-o-matic3) and all of the relevent parts of the iso are automatically modified. You then burn the patched ISO image onto a DVD-R (some PS2s prefer to play DVD-R and some prefer DVD+R so you have to either look around to see if people with the same type of PS2 have mentioned which works better for them or you try both and see how it goes) and play this patched DVD-R on a chipped/modded (slide card, flip-top-lid etc) PS2.
The best way of playing PS2 PES is by applying an amazing patch plus using an appropriate option file made specifically for a patched version of the game - this is because a normal option file will normally have kits updated in edit mode and the option file sees these as the ones to show - unless you go to edit mode and set all the kits to default, in which case you will see the patched kits which were imported instead.

You should go and read the guide to patching WE9 which is here to get an idea of the software and methods used in patching your game. The method for patching PES5 will be virtually identical to this and once you have your PES5 original disk and someone releases a good patch, you will be ready to download the patch and apply it to your image and then you're ready to go. For people with PS2s that do not play DVD-R/DVD+Rs well due to an old/dodgy laser, there is also a method to make a cdrip of the game and patch this too but this method is more difficult and you are not able to as much with this due to the limitations of the cd image size and sound files need to be reduced in quality.

Hopefully this answers everything, if not then ask and answers will be provided. All patches will be posted in the appropriate section of the File Downloads section (where people should not post threads containing questions) and option files will be in the Option Files section in there.

Well, the people need to actually have the game and be able to work on the files within before they can think about making a patch. I doubt there'll be one on the day of release. Maybe a couple of weeks later. Or it could be a month.

hi yer im a new here but i have a question for you as you seem to be very clever technology wise some one told me they know of someone who has already downloaded pro 5 using something called bit torrent if possible how would that person be able apply this torrent data to a dvd is this possible or are they just feeding me a load of bull crap

i would be grateful for any knowledge known as i not sure who to believe from your experience with iso images i thought u might be able to answer this

i cant wait for pro evo 5 to be released in the uk i need to buy a copy asap i already own we9 i consider myself one of the best to have ever played cant wait to go online in the uk and actually prove it!

But many people do seem to have the game already. Discussing the game is fine but not where you got it (if it's no legal). Cheers.

Hey Zyg i saw you talking about the max drive seen as that sounds basically just like a standard USB HDD would it be possible to use a USB Flash Drive if so is there any additional software i would need or is just Plug N Play,

I don't think it is possible to make a backup of the PS2 Max drive disk. You will have to buy it.

Is it possible say I get the PESfan option file for PES5 and download via MaxDrive, but should not be happy with some kits... is it still possible to edit them?????

Sure it is. Just go into Edit Mode and then choose the team and change what you like. I found that some of the kits were the wrong colours for previous option files and fixed them.

The Option File you donwload, once transferred to your mem card is just a normal option file and you can do what you like to it. The only difference is that people have spent many hours editing everything on it.

You can only have the points from the option file you are using. So you will have to use the points on the pesfan card. you can't transfer them over. (or there is a fiddly way to do it for PES4 but I can't remember it and I think the pesfan file will have plenty of points on it anyways).
