I'm pretty new to soccer in general, and especially the strategy/formations behind it and winning eleven. I was wondering what a good resource would be to learn about the strategy behind this, and if anyone could recommend anything.

There are always plenty of football books you can find in bookshops and in charity shops which can explain the basic formations.

To get an idea, just choose any team in the game and look at their formation and that of the opposition and then quit and start again with different teams. The games training mode can also explain a little about them.
