Firstly I apologise if this is in the wrong section and secondly if this has already been covered. But I was wondering if someone could give me a real Idiots Guide to online gaming.

I raelise that the X Box has much more games on the market for online play but the PS2 has a few. I have ordered the equipment needed to put my PS2 online but dont really understand how it will work.

Also is it better to have the PS2 near to my PC (I am going wireless so to work it doesnt have to be that near - I plan to have them in different rooms)

Can you play games with people from overseas eg USA where they use different format games to us in the UK whose games are on PAL !

You are aware of the subscription you have to pay to play online games. it isnt much but you still have to pay. this is the most off putting thing to most gamers about going online. if there was no subscription there would be millions more online.

I thought there was a subscription for xbox but PS2 was free - am I wrong ? Out of interest how much are we talking about?

I'm pretty sure there is no subscription fee for PS2 online. You just need the Network Adaptor, which it appears you have ordered.

The X-Box LIVE starter kit costs £30 and the subscription fee is included within the price. Has to be renewed yearly.

He's right. Zero subsciption to PS2 online. Also, may I recommend Killzone? Its a great online experience. And maybe consider purchasing a heatset if you havn't already.
