Online Legends Mode . . ERROR message when trying to play with a specific person

Hi all, this is a long shot but hopefully someone will have the answer. Me and a friend was playing together on legends mode over the weekend and everything was fine. Tried last night and tonight but an error message appears when we try to join each others server, yet we can play on other peoples servers. We tried playing together on someone else's server, yet the error message appeared. It seems as though we cannot be in the same game together no matter what the circumstance, yet we both own a legitimate copy each?

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?!
