The thread by jag87 explains all the methods.
You can try the Knife Trick if you don't want to spend any money but it's more risky so I would not recommend it.

is there anything i can do know to make the game more up to date!!!

not that dont want to spend money
just that wanted to update the game now
and dont want to wait 14-21days befor get the
flip top!! its so hard to get them here ya have to wait
to thay post it out!!!
is ther anything i can do now to update player's teams,names,flags,ect!!!

You could spend hours in Edit mode or you can download a pre-edited option file where someone else (Georginho mostly) has done all the editing for you. This requires the use of an X-Port to transfer the updated option file from your PC to your PS2.
