PES 11 v/s PES 10

Super excited was what I felt coming out of the game store with the brand new PES 11.. Super dissapointed was what I felt after playing my first match.. and even more dissapointed I was when I downloaded the patch and played for 4 hours thinking that I'll eventually like it..

I have been playing Iss pro on ps 1 since 2001 and have upgraded to new versions of konami soccer at every opportunity going from ps1, ps2, pc and ps3.. what a great game konami gave us last year with PES 10.. the best PES series I have ever played along with PES 6 on PC.. there was indeed a big expectation with PES 11 but konami got it very wrong..

1. The pitch looks less pretty compared to pes 10.
2. The camera is awful.
3. New player cursor is a disaster.
4. Shooting is a mess.
5. The usually simple and very user friendly team management screen has been replaced by a totally new design screen which is just a SHAME!!!.. REAL SHAME..
6. No up to date transfers!!!
7. Pro Passing needs much more work.
8. Still the same awful commentary.

I eventually returned the game back and came home with my pes 10 that i traded in to buy the pes 11.. and I sincerely hope that konami will not screw up the pes 12 version.. I was not a FIFA player at all but FIFA 11 is way ahead of PES 11.. looking foward to FIFA 11 to replace the gap left by PES 11.. and coincidentally we are 11 months away from PES 12..

PES 2011 that are improved.

1. MLO - Without this i would not be playing 2011.

PES 2011 that are worse.

1. Refs - you can now give away fouls when you have the ball, especially with big players like Diop are running with the ball.
2. Ball physics that turn the game into magnet ball, as the ball only rebounds to players feet especially the CPU's.
3. Players kicking, crossing the ball even though you have not pressed a button.
4. The punched in the stomach animation for players who loose the ball.
5. The size of the player makes no difference when it comes to ball balance. If Rooney crashes into Diop no matter how high his balance is Diop would always win due to his size, in PES Diop gets that punch in the stomach animation and freezes.
6. Only 1 tactic in memory and cannot copy in between tactics A and B and the main one.
7. Players freezing and running away from the ball, especially rebounds.
8. Players running up to the ball and then running past the ball.
9. The A.I cares more about the players position on the pitch than the ball.
10. The camera angle for wide. Why didn't they add camera angles instead of replacing the old ones. They could of had PES 2010 Wide and PES 2011 wide. Even better would be to edit the values of camera angles to what you want.

What kind of argument is "No up to date transfers" ?
Its the same problem every year . And actually they added a transfer dlc rather quickly in comparison .

Graphics wise ... pes10 was pretty but with awfully bright and flashy lightning effect . Hell both fifa 11 and pes 11 decided to fix theirs for god reason .

Commentaries are actually better , at least for some of us who dont play in english .

The mamagement screen , is up to debate . Imo it's far better . PES' 10 was an improvement over the clunky 08-09 galore , but still not good enough .

My complaints would be about removing cards management outside of edit modes ... the lack of a arrange by post/forms function , and the option to load more than two formations on a team being gone , along with a search function in edit mode .


I dont even get how can one choose pes10 over any others . it had a good new graphic engine , a new team management ui ... but the rest was probably the worst ever seen .
Because of cards , the IA was even dumber than in 08-09 ...

Same engine in 11 .. an actual IA and def even if it screws up , far less issues with updates and option files , finally base copies of players in the editor , an actual passing system , better animations etc etc ... no contest there imo

You mean worse or as something new ? I and many others have always experienced this since the first next gen pes .

And i actually think it was even worse with the cards enabled/disabled .

PES 10 was absolutely awful. I will never to this day understand how anybody could say that was any good...it certainly was a mile off the best. Yeah PES 2009 and 2008 weren't exactly anything special but last years was hideous.

So in terms of PES 2011, is it great....no, but its far better than last years and thats got to mean its at least going in the right direction.

Is there anyone who noticed a decrease in graphic level?.. the game play is not that good.. especially the new system where player names are shown above their heads!!! y did konami do something so stupid???

i am playing on ps3, full hd tv, set it to 720p, spent more time playing with tv settings, and still, there are horrible jaggy and pixelated graphics everywhere, i can actually see a jagged outline of each player, the posts look chopped up, the adboards have a noticeable jag around them, everything looks so bad, apparently this is only a problem on ps3 version, how we can stand for this is beyond me, anti aliasing or something like that, very disappointed, pes 2010 there was a constant oval shaped halo on my screen, and now this?
and whats with the graphics during set pieces? they look soo bad! only 2 metres away from the ball is actual graphics, everything else looks pathetic

i totally agree with you.. i am experiencing the exact same things.. i set up my tv on 1080p and it is still the same... hope konami will release a patch to fix this issue!!!

by the way... i have a few questions concerning tactical settings. I want to play possession, attractive football. the likes of barcelona and spain.. i've set up my team style for offensive movement, narrow support and constant interchange of positions. However it does not seem to work. I play a 4-1-2-2-1 formation. In the management edit i've put in possession (OFF) for the whole game.

1.Does this affects my team style?
2. If I put in counter attack for example, wil it work in accordance to the team style i set up or its a different team style?
3. I am getting a hard time having full backs to burst forward!!! I tried playing them as wing backs but not much difference.. the lates was playing as right midfield!!!
4. How to use strategy?? in pes 2010 it was R2+X for example?? what's the button in pes 11??
