PES 5 No Disc Inserted Error

I was wondering if anyone can help with the "No Disc Inserted" error for PES5 on a PC running Windows XP. I have searched the PES Forum and have applied the offered remedies (uninstall sonic DLA) to no avail. I have hard rebooted with a clean boot using MSconfic to turn off all system.ini, boot.ini and ms services. Indeed when I boot I have hardly any executables running. I still get No Disc Inserted. I purchased both Konami PES 5 and PES 7 from a reputable store in Australia and get the same error message for both. (This is why I bought PES 7 thinking my PES 5 disc was scratched.) By the way, this did not always happen with PES 5. Also, all other DVD's and CD's work. Finally, my PES 5 disk works on other computers.
