PES Stats

hi all,

I think that PES Stats are a bit complicated and not logical. There are also missing a lot of important tactical skills and there are some skills which are not useful (for example passes should not be devided in accuracy and speed). This is why i propose a new type of stats, which is clearly arranged:

TECHNIQUE
Shot
Header
Ball controll
Dribbling
Short Pass
Long Pass
Place Kicking
Tackling

CONDITION
Speed
Power
Endurance
Agility

TACTIC
Vision
Teamwork
Composure
Positional Play

GOALKEEPING
GK Diving
GK Handling
GK Reflexes
GK Positioning

All missing points are included in other skills and should be visible in a submenu.

Hope to get som replies

Stats are based on game engine. You can not change them as you like, you have to re-programm the game.
I think that only critical stats missing is motivation. They have something like that in ML, but it doesnt affect condition.
Anyway all those stats means nothing as soon as AI dynamically balances the game.

Have you played FIFA lately?

:D haha no. I justed looked up how soccer skills are seen by sport scientist and i arranged them so that everybody can get a clear overview.

One can introduce another points:

MENTAL
Motivation
Leadership
Commitment
Constance/Tenacity

Would be great! Those stats you wrote is a straight way to control psyhology of your team in ML. It makes sense. Right now in PES 13 I cannot control it at all. Also need specific tools to keep it under control. E.g. leadership increase when often put player in key position, commitment (or maybe discipline) increases when you do manual training session (at least manual training makes sense unlike before), motivation control by setting goals and achieve them and also salary gradient, tenacity may be a inborn stats and affect training efficiency on so on. And all this stats may affect physical condition, training intensity, club loyality and so on. I think it would make game more "alive".

Commitment and tenacity are kinda related, same again with motivation. Don't they currently have an Aggression stat? Isn't that basically the same thing?

With regards to a Leadership stat, how would this translate to PES? Obviously a useful stat to have, but probably more suited to a management sim where the on-field gameplay is entirely AI.

Shooting definitely need to split into power and accuracy. Defensive stats should be split into tackling/defensive line etc.

You're my man :D ! Thanks for your post, i totally agree with it.

With regards to a Leadership stat, how would this translate to PES?

I think that players with high Leadership skills have a huge impact on other teammates who are playing around them. For example the motivation and daily form of a young player on the wing should be raised by a leading Midfielder.

The more you split these skills, the more difficulty it is to get a fast overview about the players skills. I agree that they are necessary, but i think one should be able to open them in a submenu, when you're really interrested in a player. The submenu may look like this:

TECHNIQUE
Shot
-Shot Accuracy
-Shot Power
-Shot Weak Foot
-Shot Effet
Header
-Header Accuracy
-Header Power
Ball control
-Ball control high balls
-Ball control ground balls
Dribbling
-Dribbling Accuracy
-Dribbling Speed
Short Pass
-Short Pass Accuracy
-Short Pass Weak Foot
-Short Pass Effet
Long Pass
-Long Pass Accuracy
-Long Pass Weak Foot
-Long Pass Effet
Place Kicking
-Place Kicking Shot Power
-Place Kicking Accuracy
-Place Kicking Effet
Tackling
-Standing Tackle
-Sliding Tackle
-Block

BTW: I think "defense line" belongs to tactical skills and is included in Positional Play (put an opponent offside, interceptions, be good positioned for defending long balls/corners/crosses etc. ...)

It could be that if a player has a high leadership skill, and you assign him as captain, he raises his teammates attributes by a few points (not massive amounts though).

*saving space*

What the hell is "Shot and Pass Effet" supposed to mean?

Anyway, while you're at the splitting up business, why not add "medium height ball technique" - "left/right ass cheek tackle" - "diving upside-down header" and so on?

Seriously, there's no need for all those micro skills...

That's what I thought of. But I think that it should not only work for the captain :)

Wikipedia: Leadership = (able to guide the youngsters in the field and be able to motivate and inspire others)

Sry, I think in PES it is called Swerve (curved crosses, freekicks...)

You're right, that's why i didn't split it in my first Post :) One can discuss until eternity about these splitted minor "micro skills"....

PHYSICAL
Speed

MENTAL

Teamwork (Work as unit, including positional play, marking etc.)

GOALKEEPING

Free kicks... there are already abilities determining passing, shooting and curling.

Shot power... everybody shoots hard if they want to, some poeple shoot even harder and those are so few that a skill card or a trait could easily make enough difference from the average joe.

Crossing... Curling and passing

etc.

Thanks for your answer! I agree with most, only a few points i would change:

TECHNIQUE
Shooting
Passing
Heading
Technique
Dribbling
Curling
Tackling

I think "technique" is too general and already mentioned in headline. Passing should be splitted into Short Pass and Long Pass, because there's a huge difference between Crosses and long high forward balls (Pirlo, Snijder) and short ground passes (see Barca and Spain).
Curling is not important enough to be shown at top. should be part of shooting and passing :)

PHYSICAL
Speed
Acceleration
Stamina
Agility
Strength
Jumping

One can do it like that, but Physical in sport science gets devided into the four basics "Stamina", "Speed", "Agility" and " Strength" and sometimes combinations of them (e.g. Stamina when sprinting).
In my opinion Acceleration is part of Speed and Jumping is part of Strength.

(Creativity, spotting good passing options)

I considered Creativity too, but i think it's too complicated to implement, because in most cases the user decides about the passing, not the AI.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. As I already mentioned, if you want to take every individual difference into account, you'll end up with more abilities than Football Manager.

Number of skills may be infinite, but if they are hidden in sub menu its ok. I never saw a football manager with proper menu, they try to make it super detailed - in reality it becomes a huge mess because its badly organized. The key thing is how you organize skills in groups - even infinite number of them may look more simple than 10-15 stats that are not logically connected.

That's the point! It always disturbs me when looking for new players to buy in Master League...

The first view is not showing enough information and the detailed view is full of unarranged stats :(.
