PES Stupidity

I recently switched from FIFA and have been very pleased for the most part.

I love the game with the exception of a few glaring faults:

1. Penalty kicks - F'ing retarded.

2. Offsides - To the extreme.

3. Momentum - when you're going to F me, make it a little less obvious.

So I put in FIFa tonight for the first time in over a month. It felt like hockey on grass. Passing felt like trying to pass thru a wet paper bag. Player faces were better for whatever that counts for.

For the love of God. PES 12 could be best football game to date if you correct a few ridiculous faults.

There's nothing wrong with penalties (apart from the side on view), they just take practice. Offsides are pretty dodgy & momentum, well thats always been there

If you want a truer footballing experience stop playing the AI and get on MLO. Player switching and control can be a little 'off' sometimes but its still better than playing the AI.

Well on MLO i play alot of people who play the AI and not me.

- shooting the ball on goal with not that great pace, this to force a rebound from the keeper and a easy tap in.
- staying that much away from your players that you just cant switch to them.
- kick off - through balls through the air.
- kick off - balls to wing, when your players are just not awake yet (it seems atleast).
- when you slide tackle from the front, quickly turn around so a red card is given.

not saying these can't be countered, but its playing the AI and not the player.

But you are right saying MLO is 100 x better then normal ML vs the AI.

Player switch has to be sorted, it really does limit what you can do and KONAMI know this full well which makes it all the more irritating.

And if another one of my players challenges for the ball or a header without me doing anything I swear I will put my fucking head through the TV, why would I want the game to try and score for me?

I might go off-topic abit here....(and prepare yourself for the longest post in the history of PESGaming!)

I try for the most part to try and mix up playing Online with my single player ML (Always on Top Player of course)

If I go online I tend to try and get into a lobby for a 2vs2, though occasionally sometimes Ill settle for a 1vs1 player match....if not many join.

I try to stay away from ranked matches altogether, for me ranked games take any "fun" out of a game (Yes I agree your playing for "something" if you do play ranked) but for me ranked has become broken on just about ALL games, it has taken any fun or reward away. Its all about being competetive (Which is fine...) but ALSO for the main part exposing and abusing bad things within the game just for the "sacred" win.

Thats why 9 outta 10 people Online, go with Barca or Madrid or Spain in ranked.

However If you stay away from that and play Player Matches, so what if they want to use those teams?

What have I got to loose? (I played Juve vs Barca the other night twice against the same guy, decked him both times. But if I had lost I wouldnt have been bothered in the slightest...)


For me PES 2011 has been the best Pro Evo in a while, the last few have been a shambles without a doubt. But this has captured or tried to capture something right. I can see it, I can touch it, man I can even smell it lol.... But there is always those silly little hinderances that are preventing it going from a good game to a great one.

I hope that Konami really iron out these niggly issues out for PES 2012, I feel they deserve that time and belief, because 2011 has done something right somewhere.

The main three things and it must be a ABSOLOUTE ESSENTIAL for PES 2012 are:

- Dribbling responsiveness and control, honestly its trying to turn trucks on ice sometimes. This needs to be alot quicker and responsive without a doubt. There is NO freedom whatsoever whilst trying to dribble with Messi and Ronaldo, let alone any other player IMO. PES 1 and 2 gave you more control over your player! COME ON! It's great having Link Feints n' all, But when it takes 5 minutes to pull ONE step over in SINGLE PLAYER against the CPU.....and then add that bit of lag when your online....its HOPELESS!

- PRESSURE, OH MY GOSH, Now this is what makes FIFA bad....and now its in PES! Its all fine and dandy giving you the freedom passing/manual passing. But when YOU THE PLAYER are required to power the pass up yourself (Which takes a split second) and when you can barely move your player at all, movement wise, there is NO freedom, ZILCH. When 90% of players online are doing this, chasing you down with like 4 players around 1....and then you see the CPU doing this in single player aswell.....THIS NEEDS TO BE SORTED 9999999999999%!!!!!

- Shooting (in general), Now we all now PES has always been the game to score the extraordinary goal, that defies any human logic or gravity.....But come on Konami!

I dont want to do a bicycle kick/scissor kick from 25-30 yards out everytime there has been a header clear! I've the lost number of how many times my players try to attempt this in a single game ALONE...when sometimes all I want to do is catch it on the volley "normally." The update did fix it a little bit, but its still there (I've scored a couple of these, but they are just plain stupid to me!)

I played online before and it was a close game, He had a corner late on, He sticks it into the box, I win the header and head it clear to the edge of the box....He cracks it on the scissor kick 25 yards out it loops over the keeper hits the crossbar, bounces away and I clear it for another corner....Same corner again, I clear it away, Falls to the same player 25 yards out YES YOU GUESSED IT. SCISSOR KICK 25 yards out LOOPS over the keeper again hits the crossbar, but this time my defenders are spastic and he taps it in while the keepers "getting up"

I dont like the flight of the ball either AND when being hassled by a defender, everytime a defenders on your back, the shot is cack, however, your not even given the option to try and get some space to get the shot of either!


Heres a few more issues that could/need to be worked on:

- Penalties (Whilst some hate them, Others dont mind them! If you know what your doing and practice them, In time you will be able to take a meaningfull penalty everytime! Look, the amount of people who bring you down for a penalty online thinking "he's like all the rest, straight down the middle, or straight over the bar..." and I've then stuck it right in the top corner and left the keeper standing in the middle, is madness....they must be like wtf? He can take penalties?....So for me its not a essential to be fixed, but I agree they COULD be ALOT better. But I like the fact they are tricky.....)

- Another one people would maybe class as essential to be fixed would be A.I. - Whilst I understand where alot of people are coming from, thats PES, and it always has been like that. Thats what makes it what it is, fun and different from "that crappy EA excuse of a football game" So whilst it is extremely stupid at sometimes, and frustrating. I have to have a chuckle to myself sometimes because of it.....thats PES im afraid.

- Heading, could be better, to many flying and diving headers for my liking.

- Passes could be that little more accurate, to many back heels also!

But seriously, I agree with a lot of what you're saying, especially about there being too many back heels and bicycle kicks. I think you should have to hold L2 or something when you pass, if you want to do a back heel.
There needs to be more control over what type of shot you perform. Sometimes, when you tell it to place the ball, the striker smashes it. I hate it when they do one of those stupid toe pokes when you don't want them to.

Back to the game, for me the game is miles better than the last few Pro Evo's and tbh they were just insults to the likes of you and me, but this year they have captured "something" however alot of stupid niggly things tend to hold it back some what.

But it is not just leaps and bounds better than PES 09 and 10, its leaps and bounds ahead of FIFA 11 also, even though it has annoying issues that could have been avoided or just reverted back to a older version style.

Seriously, earlier I loaded up FIFA for a few games with friends, 3vs3. I have been playing my ML Top Player on Pro Evo most of the day and its the first time in a while I've forced my console to load up corperate FIFA....

The adjustment of course takes a bit of effort as usual, but the actual "game" itself is just downright terrible! 99% of the goals are all the same - a finesse shot into the corner....and the players are just meaningless to me (regardless of "personality +") they do what they want, when they want and there aint fuck all you can do about it.

There was more "personality" and player likeness in PES1 than this "another EA excuse for a football game"
