What i really hate about PES 2 is that it's very hard to score from crosses.
That used to be my specialty but in PES2 it's very difficult to pull a goal out of a cross.

i can still score quite a few from crosses, the best place to cross the ball from is just before you reach the 18 yard box

OK i'll try 18 yard crosses then.
Could be the solution cause i always try to reach the end line to cross from.

The defensive AI is actually worse than PES1. Defenders actually run away when you run through the middle sometimes, and this buisness of being able to turn 20 times on the edge of the box and bang it into the corner is rubbish. its just boring. When you look at WE6FE you can see what might have been.

Hi guys!
I thank administrator for e-mail, you 're right, but it's difficult for italian boy speak foreign language and be fluent in discussion like I'm so precise in italian.

Neverthless, I'll try to be competitive as you wish because everyone knows italians speak always too much, so you're lucky I'm not so good in english.

In matter of game in here, yes, clubs, rosters are important; I recently overviewed screeshots about WE6FE and is incredibly improved, especially in badge and kit editor.
It makes me feel anger because here in europe you're once at year interested by konami game, and more over, european ps2 is slower and less powered than japanese one.

For example I've always appreciated more japanese way to lay graphic about players, especially ones in FE with wonderfull air-sized shorts which give the idea of running.

On me, what lacks in pes2 is that emotive status charaterizing every match you watch in tv.

I've heard about brand new graphics, and I hope they improve this side of game because many times, atmosphere balances other things in a videogame you have to accept to be different from reality.

Virtua Striker 2002 for example has this atmosphere, but obviously has no depth.

Finally, I really don't appreciate the fact that people here when talking about something coming from a probable arcade way to make the game don't consider it, for example like swingometer on freekicks, set-pieces and pk too.
I explained why it would be a good thing and why it would impress more reality feeling during such important moments, but none replies giving a good reason apart the smell of arcade style.

In freekick, just to be frank, every choice about height, curving, angle of kick, power are all decided before kicking. Curving after kicking is unreal and much more arcade than precalculate it, but you accept during in-game situations because of complexity and continuity of action.
Try to aim a side of goal and with 99 parameter curving address the ball on the other side in freekick if you achieve, and maybe with outside of foot, because also outsided kicks can have a long distance curving...

I suggest Konami to insert something about iss series because there is spoon of reality also in arcade games...

fatal flaws

Hi,

Cal-neva's right. Ive actually decided to go back to PES because of the poor Defensive AI, lack of any midfield play and worst of all the quick 180 degree turning that has totally destroyed the need for skill in order to beat a defender (quick sharp turning with any player are now all that is required).

Don't get me wrong there are lots of good things about PES2 and i didnt take the decsion lightly - but even after lots of editing to try & make it more realistic it still feels too "arcadey" and just isnt as satisfying or as beautifully balanced as the original. In essence its too easy to create a chance and score.

cheers

To much arcade!!!

I have always liked PES because there was no way of scoring whit the same technic every time...Like in FIFA!!!

But in PES 2, i think this has changed!! If you run towards the right corner of the Penalty field and then make a 180 degree turn!! Then you almost every time score!!!!

As some have already mentioned, defender AI could definitely be better. Running at fullspeed against a defender, and steering slightly to either left or right of him just before impact, works almost every time. It's also too easy to just stop and run the other way. Free kicks on the other hand, are too difficult. Maybe i just suck but i find it really difficult to make free kicks that aren't too high, and still hard enough too reach the goal before the goalie gets there. and the whole player transfer system leaves al lot to be desired. However the game still rocks. But it could rock even more :)
