I joined wenb forum (SPIT), just to post the following point regarding the bloody awful crowd chants in ProEvo in thier 'Suggestions'. Seems that somehow acknowledging that ProEvo's crowd sounds are downright awful is a bit taboo though and my post was deleted....twice. So here it is on another 'Feeback' site.
After years of Pro Evo dissapointments (and for me the dissapointment started with PES4 right thru until now),we finally have a game that challenges, excites, and captures the imagination. Yes it has some horribly unnacceptable flaws (goalkeepers + button lag) but overall I feel ProEvo 2010 is an excellent game.....at last!
However, when I first got ProEvo, I was unable to play more than 1-2 games at a time, sometimes stopping half-way through the 2nd one and feeling compelled to turn it off at that point. The reason for this was not because I was struggling adapting to the gameplay but because I simply could not bear the default crowd chants! The default crowd sounds are a nauseating headache inducing imposition on the game that impair many peoples enjoyment of the game a great deal. And the worst thing of all is that the chants cannot be turned off without killing the rest of the soundFX and other stadia atmosphere/ambience! I game mainly on PC whenever I can and wouldn't dream of getting PES2010 for my X-Box for aforementioned reason, so it wasn't until I sorted my own chants pack for my PC installation of the game that I was finally able to start playing ProEvo properly and discover what a fantastically thrilling game it can be.
Now, if I can create a chants pack that totally revolutionises the in-game atmosphere using a big bunch of audio files recorded at real games and then uploaded by hundreds of different fans, then Konami have no excuse for the awful droney Downes-Syndromeesque chants that they have imposed on this game. As far as I am aware, their is no copyright on any recording that a member of the public has made with thier mobile and then posted on you tube. Therefore, Konami could even collect together all the various chants packs available for download on PES fan sites and use the chant files from them!
Another problem with Konami's chants system at present is that even if they bundled real proper fan-chants with the game, the games engine simply treats the home teams chants-list as a random playlist and plays the chants randomly, without ever ceasing, for the whole of the virtual 90 minutes. In addition to this getting to be a bit of a headache after while (or totally unbearbale when the chants are the default Konami produced ones), it is badly unrealistic. So in addition to having realistic chants in the game, Konami need to introduce an 'intelligent' system whereby a teams chants are played appropriately. Even something as simple as this:
Scoreline is a draw = No Chants or only Hometeam Chants
Hometeam is winning = Only Home Team chants
Away Team is winning = Only Away Team chants.
Would make a great impact on the ambience and atmosphere of the game. I know nothing of games coding but such a system complete with authentic chants has got to be childsplay to introduce and need not take more than 1 junior level staff member a working week to introduce, perfect, and complete! If Konami simply omitted to include any chants in thier game, then I would accuse them of being neglectful. But the fact Konami's chants are in the state that they are in suggests that they are being delusional and their delusion is serioulsy damaging their game!
