For those that don't know, teams without licences such as Holland, Germany and others have their players with fake names.
The good news is that you can load your PES2 option file to fix some of them. There is no option to load the PES1 option file which I thought there was an option for, for some reason. Read it somewhere or something... whatever. There is only the option to load the PES2 option file. Below are the options in the main Options screen and what they do. This is all based on the beta version of PES3:-
======================
Option File
-------------
A1. OK
A2. Auto Save On/Off
A3. Save Option File
A4. Load Option File
A5. PES2 Data Load
======================
Click on PES2 Data Load ->
Select the data to transfer
---------------------------------
B1. Transfer all player names
B2. Transfer all names except for real player names with PES3
B3. End.
======================
It was easy for me to see which names were changed since all the player names on my PES2 option file had first names (or first initials where there wasn't enough space). But in Master League of PES3, the new transfer system can sort players by name and first names can screw that up a little so I won't be using first names in PES3. But when you play, you will have to be careful of players like Ashley Cole who will appear in the 'A' list rather than the 'C' list.
These options only change player names that were edited and not any appearances. So Scholes remains blonde despite being corrected by me to be ginger in PES2.
OK. Choosing option B2 changes a few names of the players.
Choosing B1 -> Fixes Germany players who were in PES2.
Holland player names remain messed up so you will have to fix the Dutch names for all cases.
If you made any transfers by editing player stats,names etc, the player names will be changed too in PES3.
Eg, in my PES2, I edited Ruben of Real Madrid to become Beckham. If you load up B1, Ruben is still at Madrid but his name is Beckham. It is simple to edit the name back to default and you can do this for any players you see in the roster that doesn't quite look right. Plus the shirt name for the player will still be correct and not be changed like the player name. On the shirt, it will still say Ruben and not Beckham even though the player name is Beckham.
===================
Edit Mode ->
AA1. Edit Player
AA2. Edit Team
AA3. Save Data Management
AA4. End Editing
===================
Click on AA1. Edit Player -->
BB1: Create Player
BB2: Modify
BB3: Delete
BB4: Register Player
BB5: Number [Shirt]
BB6: Enter Number
====================
BB4: Register Player --> You can register any player you create to a national team only, as long as his nationality is correct.
BB5: Number [Shirt] --> You can edit the shirt number of any player for a national and a club team.
BB6: Enter Number --> This is a 4-digit-code that you can use to change stats of a team quicker. Something like a change of +5 (or other) for every stat, so it saves you doing it by individual players.
=====================================
Click on AA2. Edit Team -->
You can select any team, national and club.
For nationals, you can edit the kits and that is it.
For clubs, you can edit:
CC1: OK
CC2: Team Name
CC3: Strip
CC4: Flag
CC5: Team Colours
CC6: Stadium
All of the above are things you can do without buying anything and they can be done the first time you load the game.
When you unlock the Edit Formation mode from the shop (3,000), there will be a new option added to the list called Team Edit or something similar. Go here to edit the formation of any team as you normally would before a match. Select formation and starting eleven. If you save it, this is the way the team will play from now on as default (using your memory card).
When you buy the Transfers option (10,000), clicking on
BB4: Register Player
will lead to 3 new options. First you could just register to a national as the only option. Now there is:
DD1: National Team selection
DD2: Club Team Selection
DD3: Free Transfers
DD1: National Team selection --> Replace a national player with a created player or a club player.
DD2: Club Team Selection --> Choose a club player and select him to play for a national team
DD3: Free Transfers --> Choose a club player and select him to play for another club team.
More details on the transfer mode in this thread.
In WE7, the transfer options are:
1. National Player
2. Select Allstar Player
3. Club Player
4. Free Transfer
and in PES3 they are:
1. National Team selection
2. Club Team Selection
3. Free Transfers
so the above info can be used for PES3 as follows:
(slight editing of dannyboy22's guide so it applies to PES3):-
How to transfer players from club to club
-----------------------------------------------------------
1. Go to the 3rd option [3. Free Transfers] down in transfer mode
2. Select the team the player you want is in
3. Swap him with a player further down the squad list (below 16 places i think)
4. Select the player again
5. Select the team you want to transfer him to
6. Select a blank space in the team and then he'll be transferred
How to transfer a player from Country to Club
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Go to the 2nd option [2. Club Team Selection] in the transfer menu
2. Select a blank slot in the team your transferring TO
3. Go to the country the player plays for.
4. If he isn't at a club in the game already, he'll be selectable. Just select him
To remove a player from a team and make him a "free agent"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Go to the 3rd option [3. Free Transfers] in the transfer menu
2. Select the player and replace him with someone further down your squad list.
3. Go to the 2nd option [2. Club Team Selection] in transfer mode.
4. Select the player and swap him with a blank space in your team, he'll then be removed from your squad
NOTE: To get the player back, do the opposite:
1. Select the 2nd [2. Club Team Selection] option in the transfer menu
2. Select a blank space in your team
3. Select your team again and all the "free" players will be highlighted, select the one you want
To put a player into a national squad from a club
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Select the 1st option [1. National Team selection] in the transfer menu
2. Select the country you want.
3. Select a player that you want replaced (eg Jeffers)
4. Select the club where the player you want is
5. The available players will be highlighted, select him (eg Shearer)
Hopefully these methods for PES3 are correct. If someone can check that would be great.
So you can edit all that yourself or buy an X-Port for £17.99 so you can download an option file with all corrections and transfers already made for you. Like the evo-web one which is good. Well, people on there know more about the starting lineup and formations of teams like Peru and Anderlecht than I do, so I trust them.
You will be able to download option files for free from
www.showusmiracle.com
EDIT:- Oh yeah, and other last thing. In PES3, if you want to change the language, you can select it on loading or in the main Options menu. But the text will change language too. There is no option to only have the commentary in another language as in previous games which is a shame. The languages available are:
English
French
German
Spanish.
EDIT:- If you used letter with accents and stuff like that in PES2, this won't be transferred to PES3 - causes blank spaces instead.
Thanks to dannyboy22 for the use of his WE7 transfer guide.
The rest of this post was made by me. Enjoy
