The game will be released at the same time as the PS2 version and apparently be called Pro Evolution Soccer X

X MARKS THE SPOT FOR PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER™

Konami of Europe’s seminal football simulation set to run out for Microsoft’s Xbox® video game system in 2004

Konami of Europe has confirmed what football fans have wanted to hear for years: that its hugely successful Pro Evolution SoccerTM franchise is to make its debut on the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft.

Widely regarded as the definitive football game for any format, the Tokyo-based team behind the game is now set to dazzle a wider range of football fans, with the advent of the first Pro Evolution SoccerTM title for Xbox. From its humble roots in the mid-90s, the Pro Evolution SoccerTM franchise has won a series of accolades and fans. Its intuitive gameplay offers players the most realistic controls of any football game, with slick runs, deft passes and first-time shots all faithfully recreated. Similarly, the series enjoys a stunning level of detail, with players not only resembling their real-life superstar counterparts, but also sharing many moves and playing traits.

The first Pro Evolution SoccerTM for Xbox will be released in Q4, 2004, and is certain to wow an all-new audience of fans by adding the fantastic graphics sounds and gameplay that Xbox is known for to the series. "We are delighted to be bringing what is rightly seen as the pinnacle of football titles to a new legion of fans," commented Kunio Neo, President, Konami of Europe. "It is one of Konami's most prestigious and most important titles, and we anticipate that the Xbox version will enjoy the same phenomenal level of success as its predecessors on other formats."

"Pro Evolution SoccerTM is a fantastic football simulation," added Michel Cassius, Senior Director, Xbox Platform and Marketing. "Konami's reputation for delivering stunning match-day action that plays almost identically to the real thing is renowned across the globe. Coupled with the fantastic graphics and advanced gameplay that Xbox offers, we foresee one of the greatest transfers of all time when Pro Evolution SoccerTM signs for Xbox."

Good press release but no mention of online still...I think maybe its right to concede that it wont appear this time round. Maybe I'll still get an X-box though, I've been meaning to for a while now.

Chipping X-Box is not that hard as well. There is a non-solder mod which boots all backups, and is actually one of the best chips around.

I meant editing the PES version of Xbox, not the Xbox itself. ;)

Chipping XBOX is easier, safer and quicker to do as asmufc already pointed out. Upgrading the machine is also possible, such as bigger HD, faster DVD drive, etc... Playing the game DIRECTLY from HD is ALSO possible. I think this openes TOTALLY new door to patching, editing and playing the game overall. And to mention that Xbox can be connected to HDTV, increase the game resolution (if the game suports that), better sound, WAAAAY BETTER ONLINE PLAY, and now Pro Evo on its way, I do not see the point of owning a PS2. Xbox is just way better than PS2. You can even plug in PS2 controller if that makes a problem for some people.

I said something about future of PES/WE series few months ago. Konami needs to do give us something new, besides improving pure gameplay and slightly graphics and sound, and increasing the number of teams. These improvements are not enough to keep gamers occupied for a long time and people get bored easily, like with FIFA. The only reason WHY Konami is succesfull with WE/PES on PS2 right now is its 3 versions of the same (slightly improved) game, which makes the game "different" and prolongs the life of the series. Second reason is patching.

I think that xbox version will deliver that "something" new and imrpove the old things (such as loading times and patching). And if it doesn't deliver online play, there is always option that your friends bring their controllers and without need to buy additional peripherals you can have 4 players. Now add to that link cable, conect 2 xbox consoles and play PES4 on 2 different TVs in separate rooms with 8 of you. We will see in few weeks how WE8 will look like, but I can BET monies that until PES4 comes out, a lot of people will get bored with it, like with PES3 after couple of months. New international version will come out and save PS2 for few more moths but eventually it will lose it's favourite.

Until PS3, BYE BYE good old PS2.

Unfortunate thruth!

List something the PS2 can't actually do...

and something in this game that can't be edited on the PS2... "Tottaly new door to patching" HEHEHEHEHE. Good one.

Plus, won't be able to play on Live with all that...

Besides slightly sharper graphics on the X-Box, both versions will be the same and will have the same possibilities. :)

im a ps2 and xbox owner but i just dont want the winning eleven series to come to the xbox just like metal gear did.konami has been releasing winning eleven games for a long time now and all of them for the ps1 and ps2 so why do they have to give it to microsoft NOW.cant xbox just stick with fifa(the worst football game on the face of this earth?)

If they are both the same with the XBOX with better graphics, Then the Xbox version is the better one and they are not the same.

They are basically almost the same but If you had to choose between both for free with the PS2 controllers what would you choose? XBOX one obviously because it is slighty better.

i bet konami will make the graphics for the XBOX slightly better than the PS2 version. but again patchers will probaly favor on the PS2 side more since its obvious that most PES/WE gamer and patcher owns a PS2.

What's the big deal about the PS2 controller? The Xbox S controller just sits so right in the palm of your hand, and the box sticks piss on the PS2 analogues, they're a bit firmer, better buttons, better weight, yada yada.

Well one thing I cant stand on ps2 games are jaggies, and if pes4 suffers from that on it, then I'd be pretty annoyed, but i know that is to be expected on ps2. Thats why I want an x-box i want to see pro evo the way its meant to be seen for the first time, it could be the best looking pro evo to date, its a shame no online, but anyway there are enough games on x-box to warrant buying one.
