PES5 (PS2) Editing updates ignored in leagues etc?

Hi, I did a quick search and couldn't see anything relating to this matter so i apologise if there is a thread on this topic already.

I have edited a few things (manually - no d/l updates), including:

Team > set formation, for example making Hleb a start player for Arsenal ahead of fabregas. Anyway im exhibition match this seems to work but when i reverted to a league (england league) fabregas was set-up to play from the start.

Am i to assume that all changes made in the edit mode only take effect in exhibition matches?

Surely this can't be so..

Thanks. It seems that there is no solution for this.

I'll give a brief summary of what i found for anyone who looks at this topic.

Any changes made to tactics/strategy will be saved but the lineups in league/cup games will not be the same as what you set in the edit formation mode. This is due to the AI picking players they calculate as "best to play in the set positions", and thus ignore any changes a user may have made.

Personally i think this is rather a poor feature, or atleast has been implemented poorly. Perhaps they could of had an option to say whether or not you want it to overwrite to give users the option. Playing the first game of the season against Man utd (i.e. no injuries/fatigue etc) and still the team was rubbish.
