PES6 beta version played

I've just come back from the UK national PES5 finals where many great PES5 players bashed each other silly all day until RobMclean won the national title. He then got to play a match against John Terry (yes, for real - I'll post pictures later) and beat him 3-2 (though Rob was taking it a little easy on him ;) ).

There were also six PS2 pods with playable versions of PES6 available to play all day.

PES6 Observations:
It is very similar to WE10 as we all knew it would be.
Compared to WE10 there are quite a few extra animations, especially notiacable when the keepers catch and hold onto the ball.

The keepers are still very poor - they spill a lot of shots allowing simple tap-ins and they do not react very well to some shots which fly right by them, when they should not be doing so.

From the teams I saw, the national squads are as they were for the world cup. So for England it's Owen and Crouch up front with Rooney and Walcott on the bench. This is awful news for those who play in tournaments as these will be the only forwards available to those who play as England - for a whole year! Also, van Nistelrooy is still at Manchester United.

It is quite safe to say that this was a beta version rather than the final version due to a few oddities with the kits. Manchester United has a home kit that looked like Inter Milan's home kit. The Chelsea kit had no sponsors. But the England kit was fully licenced and looks quite good.

There is a new range of balls available to play with - and in my opinion, most of them don't look very good.

Some players had updated stats. Players I noticed included Aaron Lennon who looks very good, Michael Carrick is also improved. Ronaldinho is still unstoppable and Rooney remains a powerhouse!

Thanks.

From what your saying its not looking to extraordinary, i really wanted the keepers to be improved. From what ive heard, chelsea will not be licensed.

Thanks for the write-up man, quick question though:

Is the defence improved as I find it quite poor playing multiplayer especially ?

So, since it looks certain that Chelsea aren't going to be licensed, does this mean that EAs link with FIFA getting the licensing for all the Premiership teams really mean that Konami can only 2 Premiership licences for each PES game?

Oh no, the keepers are still crap. It's gonna piss peolpe off BIG time online. I've already found several flaws to take advantage of concerning the keepers in WE10.

If they're not improved for the final release, the fair play aspect both online and offline is gonna be ruined, you'll have loads of people taking advantage of these flaws and therefore, spoiling the enjoyment we've all had for the past few years playing the PES range.

They've made so many big improvments so it seems, but a HUGE mistake with the goalkeepers. Also, i've noticed on WE10 how ridiculously easy it is to shoot now.

I hope we're all not too dissappointed come October 20th.

Dos'nt sound good, i know its only a beta version, but if its anything like PES5 ill be taking it back, cant be doing with another full year of PES5 if its like it, PES4 was by far the best so far.

hopefuly the problem with the kits is because the game is only a beta version. I''ll bet that transfers still are not finished when the game is released they never are good to hear about the new animations though looking forward to pes6.

Well it all sounds utterly unconvincing, but thanks for the info Zyg.

You'll be begging for PES5 again when you see the new version. I havn't played WE10 - you can beat the keepers on the near post in every shot and every second match ends 5 - 4 - for a month.

This seems to be the norm, about this time every year everyone starts panicing that new pro evo will be pants, a real kick in the twins but when its released its good. We all know that knoami are lazy when it comes to transfers so we'll have to update them ourselves like we do every year. As far as Chelsea not been licensed, I can't see that been true. surely konami wouldn't ditch chelsea (the champions) for man utd! Anyway I wouldn't panic just yet although previews in mags and demos are nowhere in sight and I was hoping for a demo to appear on xboxlive by now, it is only a month till its suppose to be out - hang on i'm starting to panic!!

By the way Wrathchild love the 'spaced' avatar

I've come across many reports saying that PES6 is an improve version and blab blab blab.... of WE10. Its true yes cos its release later and seabass have mention he will make changes to the game after he out take on WC 2006. But seriously, I don't really care as I'm happy with WE10 yes I must say there are many flaws in every edition but don't you just grow to live with it!! End of the day if you know all the flaws then try to prevent it. Stop your opponent from exploring such flaws or use those flaws on your opponent then. Its a game if they make it super realistic!! & super AI I think you'll probably throw you PS2 or PC out the window because you can't even score a goal.

Ask yourself this questions? Do you see the goal keeper hanging to the bar & allow your opponent to score every time you play?? NO RIGHT!!!

Even in real game, players score when goal keeper deflect the goal into the net!! So seriously its just a game if you want to be good at it then learn to understand it rather than complaint about it because nobody force you to play we all play because we love it.

Just my views no harm intended :)

Are the keepers actually worse, or are they just as 'bad' as previous editions?

If there as bad as previous version's then they cant be that bad, the only thing i find with the keepers on pes5 is that they seem to let in freekicks that arent exactly hard to get to.

Zygalski, great news of what will be the Pro Evolution 2007... It is really nice to hear that Manchester United is licensed... :shocking:

I saw some pictures at GAMEKULT showing the Ligue 1 licensed but dont know if the same happens with the Bundesliga...

I wonder if all the pitches have the same size... And there is a different type of grass shown...

I hope you can make a pack with all of Manchester United player stats... :w00t

Thanks!

Far worse. They may have new animations which look cool when seeing them pull off a one-handed save. However the amount of times the ball is cm's from their body and they fail to react is beyong sickening. It is the equivalent to banging your head off a brick wall for hours on end.

Keepers in real life don't knock the ball into their own net 4 or 5 times a game, i'm not exaggerating either, seriously.....

Trust me mate, it's gonna drive you mad.

The only consolation is...You opponent's keeper will be just as, or even shitter than yours....
