Playing against more physical teams 1v1

This one may well have already been answered, but i just have to ask because i've been really trying to work this one out for ages.

The team i predominantly play as is Arsenal, and against the AI (Top Player of course) i can get by without too many issues, and develope a game play agains the likes of Chelsea and the other powerful and technical teams which serves me quite well...even though its not that pretty lolol!

Anyhew, my issue is against just my friends, who play as Inter, Chelsea and Liverpool.
I will get completely steam rolled by there midfields and i am dispossed all too easily...even using the close control function i am just levered off the ball.
The Arsenal attack is...well unless my strikers Ade and Persie are on red ups its a real headache...lose those players and have to play Bendtner i know goals are going to be hard to find.

I rarely get out player through passing against someone, as Arsenal my players cannot ge the ball of lets say off Drogba and Ibrahimovic.
I can play as Barca a team with simular strenght attributes and deal with them fine because they have Puyol and one or 2 others who can tackle!!

Has anyone has this problem...and found a way to combat it.

For example i can get a win but its like 3-2...or 2-1 and its fricking hard, but when i lose its 4-0 or 6-1...etc...very irritating to know im only getting beaten by just superior strength.

Play to my strengths yes, fast move passing etc...but all you need is a strong centre forward it seems.

Any ideas?

arsenal as in real life are too easily bullied off the ball
i would suggest a offensive 4 5 1 formation try 451 c3 to keep the ball
kinda hard when someones chasing you down using there superior stamina and strengh but you need to let these teams do just that keep it tight until they have lost enough stamina to pick them off with arsenal passing speed and accuracy
dont always pass forward but sideways and back
have at least three midfielders with a high def attitude and try not to out muscle them but to intercept there passes and cut off the supply to the strong centre forwards
also try and use the offside trap not only for offsides but to close the space between your defence and midfield thus cutting the supply
you will know your doing better when you see that you have had 60% or more possession

Thanks for the response.

Yeah true...pushed off way to easily.
I played last night against a couple of my mates with a varient on the 4-5-1.

Basically 2CM's then 2 SMF's a AMF and a CF.
Tightly compacted the whole team so as when i lose the ball in space i have a player who can close down quick.

It work quite well i still lost games...but i wasnt getting thrashed. I never checked my possession but i know on occasions i was being camped in my own half...but having to break a team down is ALOT harder than just catching teams on the counter...i rarely was in a 1v1 postion between players and it was very frustrating for my opponent.
It was hardly pretty football but did get the result in the end, i have always been a 4-4-2 man but with Arsenals (and anyother less physical teams) lack of strenght the extra number in midfield goes along way indeed.

It is definetly all about intercepting of passes...a fine art for sure lol

Cheers,

also try to play with a strategy plan a and b so you can quickly switch to a 4 3 3 or
4 4 2 when you have the ball and if you have the ball with your 4 5 1 formation and its theres to many players in the middle switch to oppisite side attack
this instructs your players to stay wide but don't leave it on or you wont have many players in the middle to cross to or play in
if your playing someone with a strong but not nesscessary quick centre forward say real madrid and van nistilrooy play with your backline at A to keep them from holding the ball up close to your box and allowing the midfield runners to invade your box

I believe that if you overplan on the strategies and formations, you don't do so well. Seriously, think less about finding the correct formation et all. Either use the default formation, or use one of the presets. And go into the match with a confident outlook, be bright, start well. Focus on keeping the ball. Work the lines, 'treat the ball like a friend' haha, as 'most coaches say'. They cant score without the ball ;)

It's all about asserting yourself on the game

I think a good idea with a 4-5-1 formation is to have at least one strategy plan thatll allow you to switch to a 4-3-3 nice and quickly when you have possession.

This will allow you to be defensively stable when not in possession and then to switch and really push forward when you win the ball.
