Problem with my PS3

Hi sorry to bother, I know I should join a proper ps3 forum to get answer, but you'll seem pretty clued up on here.

When I first bought my ps3 a few weeks ago, I only bought pro evo on it and have only been playing that up until a few days ago, when I bought Grand theft auto and Top Spin (a tennis game). However these two games that I bought, don't work. GTA for example says the game is corrupted and it needs to be re-installed. However when I deleete the game from my ps3 and reload it, it just keeps saying the same thing. The advice I have been given is to REBOOT all the hardrive on the ps3, meaning I'll loose all the editing I've done to pro evo for example, which took AGES, and all the music I've added etc. There must be another way, as I find this an absolute disgrace that you can buy something so expensive (brand new) and for it to brake and cause such an inconveniance like this.

I'll be forever grateful if anyone can offer me any advice on an alternative way to get other games working on my ps3, not just pro evo, and without having to loose all the data which I've spent aaages putting on. Thank you

Tried getting the updates for the PS3 from PSN? There are a few known issues with the PS3 that updates to the systems software have corrected, it may help you to check that out.

Failing that, if your system is new contact the store you bought it from and demand a replacement. If it was sold defective, and that means your entitled to a working replacement FREE OF CHARGE. Dont let them dick you around telling you to contact Sony, its the STORE you bought it froms responsability to refund or replace any defective product they sell BY LAW.

mate, first of all thanks very much for replying. It is much apprechiated.

Second, to be fair to the store, i went to see them today and they were very good about it and said they would replace it if i needed to. My one annoyance with it all is replacing all the data on my ps3 which like i said, took some time to put on. I have put an update on my ps3 (2.50) and that hasn't solved it. What do you reckon, is my only option to loose all my data?

Well good on the store for being honest, Ive seen plenty of them BS about it personaly.

My advice is to take the new unit. Yes its a pain in the arse but its not a good idea to keep a busted machine.

You have options though, I believe that the PS3 will allow you to save your data to a USB stick. So that way you would be able to transfer your old save data to the new one. However, I would advise against this on the grounds that there could be corrupted data in the "old" unit that might be at fault and transfering to your "new" unit could cause issues to arise.

In any case, there is plenty of time for you to play PES, you will get back any data you loose in the long term.

aye, and I can download an option file too to cover up the cracks. I wanna keep my become a legend mode though but nevermind. Its a pain but I'm sure I'll get over it. Cheers for the help mate, your a legend.

Out of interest by the way, are you using an option file and if so, what one?
