Microsoft get their money with the online system. See XBOX 360's are cheaper than PS3 but even if you find the XBOX 360 Online superior to the PS3, you will end up paying more.

XBOX 360 - £200
PS3 - £425

5 years playing on XBOX 360 Online adds £250, not much in it.

(I say 5 years because that is when the next load of consoles will be released)

It is.

It's supposed to be part of the entire PS3 console bundle.

You basically pay the £400+ for the Blu-Ray drive and free access to the PS3 Online Services (such as the Playstation Store and the Playstation Network Platform etc, etc).

I dont know if this has been posted if it has just close this thread but i would like to let everyone know about this deal. I sure wish it was around when i got my ps3.
At Eb games/gamestop turn in a ps2, two controllers and a memory card. take 100 bucks off either 20 or 60 gig. So if your getting a ps3 soon i would take advantage of this.

I know, but as you already said, people have multiple PS2 in their house.

I suspect that I'm in the minority.

Let me just think, $100 is around £75. It's not much if you ask me.

If you put together all the accessories (such as the DVD Remote, a Steering Wheel, an extra Controller, Memory Card etc) and throw in 3-4 original games together with a working PS2, then you'd probably get around £100 for it. I've seen them go for that much on Ebay. :eek:hmy:

You'd get even more for a working PS2 thats Swap Magic enabled (with backup games of course). ;)

take into consideration starting price for PS3 (£425?) then you buy games at £50 a pop... and they give you free internet where you'll still have to pay to download stuff no doubt. I'd say in the long run 5 years of XBOX Live is still cheaper than PS3-because of the price of games.

Except games will of course come down for the PS3 as they did for the Xbox 360 which also had games at '£50 a pop' when it came out.

Also the PS3 you say is £425 is 60GB, the XBOX 360 Premium is 20GB, so expect the PS3 20GB to be around the same price as XBOX 360 was when it first came out, £300.
