Realistic Counter Attack

Does anyone know how to create a realistic counter attack in the game.

Absorb attacking pressure, then push the ball forward into space? I want to make one for MLO since everyone plays with 3+ strikers.

So earlier today I was playing some matches.

I played with two deep DMS right above both Cbs, but after that I'm not sure what to do. Should I play with one CF pushed all the way forward? Two forwards? 1 CF and two WFs? should I use two DMs and two CMs with the striker being alone up front?

What player support should I play, defensive or offensive? Should I use the long ball strategy or the quick counter or just one of them? The quick counter seems like it would mess with the long ball strategy.

Any thoughts on this tactical discussion?

The best formation for a quick counter attack is a 4-3-3, which means you'll be taking advantage of that wonderful overpowered through ball we all love so much, but it's effective at least. For slightly less fast counter-attacking try a 4-3-2-1 and counter down the middle of the pitch. With any luck, enough cpu players will have come forward that one or the other of your two men behind the striker will be able to receive the ball in a bit of space, and play in the centre forward nicely.

Quick Counter strategy is weird. It does indeed make all your players rush up the pitch when you win the ball and start an attack, but it also makes you play a high defensive line, which is not what you'd expect from a counter-attacking team. I find that when I use Quick Counter, it tends to create a Barcelona-type effect, with the defence playing very high and all the play squeezed into a small strip in the opposition's half. Basically the opposite of "quick counter".

Still haven't figured out which strategy is best for that. It's VERY hard in PES right now to play without the ball.

well, I was hoping to take advantage of what the MLO cheesers give me. If they want to all out attack, I'd like a deep absorbing defense, and then spring out with precise long balls (this years long balls are much better than last years).

Difference is I'm going to try to make my long passes count, rather than the usual online long balls that fly straight to the keeper or into touch.

Not sold on the 4-3-3 as I don't want to be seen as throwing too many people forward. Maybe a 4-5-1 with two SMFs playing at about the opponents 1/3 line. I tried this in single player and it's okay, but opens the middle a bit too much despite two DMFS. Playing a CM above the DMs helps a bit.

Has anyone played a realistic counter game in MLO? The reason I want to change is that I was bored with my current possession strategy and wanted to try something different.

Can't counter attack on here, team mate AI is too rubbish. BUT, CB overlap is probably the best bet, if its possible at all.
I have scored goals on the counter attack, but it's needed 5 or more one-twos and just looks and feels ridiculous.
