I know this is subject probably touched on quite often. I also know that I cant be bothered reading all of the other threads that contain information like this. I also know that many of my PES Brothers (and i guess sisters) have suffered from this problem:
Poor referees.

In a league, just a normal 16 team club league, i had an average of two red cards a game. Now I can accept that sometimes challenges will be bad and/or late and warrant a red card. But the real anger point is that when the computer's team does it to you, the worst they get is a booking. Admitedly, on multi-player I have had some very helpful ref decisions in favour of me, but when I play the computer, it is almost never. I've never had teh benefit of the doubt on a handball, a rough challenge in the box or a tackle from behind. I can accept that. But the fact that the computer does is what really bursts my theoretical bubble. Anyone else had this problem?

PS: This is one only a few problems in a game as close to perfect as football games have ever been, with the exception of the Championship Manager series but it doesnt count because its a PC Management game, not a console Sim.

dude, chill up haven't you played FIFA? i used to think it's the best game there is until i was stunned by WE i think refs are as good as they can be i also heard that there are improvements about refs in WE7i not a lot of handballs and stuff but still WE7 refs are way and i mean WAY much better than FIFA's

I totally disagree, fifas refs are much better.........im not bumming up 2 fifa..........im pes all the way through.............u believe me............right

why wouldn't i believe you ? , it's just when i used to play FIFA I always complain about how's the ref never giving me what i deserve like one defender comes crashing me from behind and the ref gives me a free kick with even no booking, i used to buy FIFA since it was out till 2004 and actually after 98 it went real bad, so i think refs in this game are better but these are just opinions aren't they ?

thats cuz their refs arent realistic. I can accept that sometimes he isnt favouring me, but they're too consistent. We need inconsistency!

Aside from whether FIFAs REFs are bettah or not:

If u hit the ball u won't get pulled up for it 70% of the time. Occasionally when its a tackle from behind it may be called a foul but that happens in real matches aswell. Its a case of dangerous play i suppose

Anyway i mainly use slide tackles for taking out people running down the wings which are hard to stuff up... so i've never noticed such a prolific problem

are u playing with arsenal maybe thats the problem

good one man. slide tackles can also be your downfall tho. If its a little bit late, expect a card. If the comp is a little late, tho, the most your gonna get is a foul on a lucky day.

i play WE7I-US and find the officiating to be horrible...i've gotten yellows for barely nudging another player in an open field, but if a defender takes me out with a slide tackle while i'm in the box, without even touching the ball, no foul is called at all...and this happens constantly...i consider it a major victory if i can play a whole match without getting a card...also, there have been a few occasions where i've taken a shot on goal, the ball will be blocked by a defender, and if the ball goes to my team mate, i get called for offsides, what the hell is that? though as far as handballs go, i've never once seen one by either side, they must have taken that out of this version.

to be honest, i dont mind if the referees are terrible in a game. that kind of stuff does happen in football. the problem is that it happens way too much. they need to make inconsistencies! i cannot reiterate that point enough!

yeah. refs just appear out of nowhere when they give you a card. That should definatly be in PES4.

definitely. another good visual would be managers and players at the touchline. seeing three subs getting up and training at the by-line. assistant refs running up and down the touchline. 4 official with the injury time board. and so on.

stop slide tackling, you won't get more than a yellow for a standard tackle. it might be different for WE7i(US), but i have alot more problems with thier suspicious shoulder barging. I see the computer ejected occasionally, but it is always after i juke them down the sideline past the 18. like all forms of computer cheating there is nothing we can do to help you with it. just keep playing until you are so good you can let the bullshit slide. other than that, stop slide tackling!

some of the offside rulings are a bit on the shady side too

for instance i unleashed a 40 yard long ball which my striker latched onto behind the defense only to be called offside when my striker ran behind the defense after the ball had been released but he was onside as the ball was released...if that made sense

the handball ruling should go from pes4, theres never an instance when its not actually ball to hand

dont stop slide tackling, just learn when to slide for the ball and when to just apply pressure

don't get me wrong, i know there's nothing that can be done about it, i was just sharing my experiences with the game...and yeah, i do slide tackle a lot, and i have no problems with it if i get called for a slide from behind, or a particularly rough slide, but there are so many instances where i get called undeservedly for so many different things, it's almost like i'm not even allowed to defend against an attack at all! i many times end up getting beat by the refs and not the other team...oh well, nothing can be done about it, i'll just try to carry on.

celtic summed it up, the computer cheats; in every way. Twice in 2 weeks of ML I have scored late in the game, thought "yes, I've won.". Then from their kick off, they pass it about in midfield for a minute then launch a long ball which goes over the head of my defender( who for no apparent reason was 10 yards ahead of the rest of my defenders) Of course they would have a striker in that space and he would put it in. Bottom line is, the computer hates losing, you just need to get on with it and improve until, everytime they cheat, you can counter it and score.

I for one, don't want the Refs appearing on the pitch during play. Do you think that the hand balls in the game make it more "realistic" , it just ruins the game. Also i would like to see the Refs being more strict. I'm fed up seeing my men constantly brought down with no cards being produced, i rarely see a COM player sent off ( maybe once a season). The most bookings i have had in a season is 4 with no red cards.

I'd love to see the ref on the pitch. And a better advantage rule, less hand balls and refs that don't book you when you clearly get the ball and the other player stumbles a little would be nice.
