i think we should have a system where you can rep someone for a contribute or something they did for the site.Have i little sign below your name or something which someone can click on and add rep.The more rep you had the higher the reputation you would have.Just a thought!

yeah rep systems are graet for a sitee, pretty much all big sites have them. there a good way of people keeping down on the level of stupidity and spam and incourage people to make good post and contribute wortwhil info.

but on the other hand without admins taking part in how this is run it will turn really bad. for example theres alot of idiots here and those idiots like other idiots so they'll just start repping ecah other, so in the end awfull poster will have high rep and the system will be useless.

rep is used to determine the good posters from the bad, and without the admins watching over it, it's not worth it.

how this is done is the admins will set some people they recoginse as good posters with high rep. now these respcted members will the speard that re around to other good posters get them higher rep and neg people who are bad posters. of course the admins can just takeaway or give any member a certain amout of rep too, so it not that hard to keep it running smoothly.

i'd like to see that here, it's fun too

I've seen this on another vBulletin site and it works great. They get little icons under there avatar depending on how much rep they have been given.

I think only the childish 'newbies' would do this to be honest. A lot of the more mature members have more common sense than to give someone negative reputation over a difference in opinion.

I say no because it is stupid when people become obsessed with it. or even when you have people saying "rep me" all the time, its just like spamming or advertising.
soon enough there will be threads opened saying "rep me and i'll rep you back" and these threads will come in thick and fast.

Not worth the effort.

Exellent point, even after joining here for five minutes you are able to tell the regulars apart, rep only degrades the others. thus the term "rep-whore"
