Played two matches so far. Animations are nice, some great new ones for players falling over (a real nice one where the player sort of rolls 'through' his stumble and lands on his feet again). The cross animation where the crossing player falls on his ass is back again, and there are lots of other little animations I've not seen before. Of course, the GKs now make more one-handed saves too.

Player responsiveness is far better than WE9, thankfully. If a player stumbles in WE10, you are 'in control' of him again extremely quickly and you can continue your run, in WE9 this type of situation would always result in a free-kick. A great improvement here because it keeps the flow of the game going, there are definitely less little, silly fouls in WE10.

Use of to receive a pass seems tweaked. In WE9 it felt like although your player controlled the ball, he almost controlled it too well, and the ball got stuck under his feet a little. In WE10 this doesn't seem to happen. It's hard to explain, but although it seems defenders catch up they don't seem to be able to put in much of a challenge while they are sprinting back, which is just great as in previous versions they'd just barge into the back of you. This time it feels like they're really just concentrating on getting on their goal-side first, before they think about tackling.

Through passes are struck less powerfully and more precisely, the high through pass is much more floated instead of driven.

No slowdown on FAR view, not tried others. I also notice the tiny 'freeze' that sometimes occurs when the ball goes into the net or just bye the goal, but it doesn't hurt at all even if it's a little strange to get used to, not serious.

Only new stadium available at the start is Bernabeu, which is pretty well done (the ground area inside the goal net is sweet, it's 3/4 grass and 1/4 concrete like the real stadium). I assume if there are any other stadia they have to be unlocked.

I won't post any stats or faces so don't ask, I'm gonna go back and play some more and see what else I notice.

Overall, I'm impressed so far. It's more 'free' and balanced compared to WE9.

Thnx for the review.

I'm also a addicted player with the WE/PES series and I'm playing these games for several years now. The WE series is my favorite, because of the slow pace that is imo a realistic one.

I have some real problems with this game, the gamespeed is way to high for me, it even feel pretty arcade to me. Scoring is way too easy, on 5* I've had scores like 5-5 all the time. I just couldn't believe that this is a WE game?

I'm an online player, and even won some championships online and I predict that this game will have scores like this all the time because dribbling and passing is way too easy while defending is more difficult now. If your playstyle is dribbling this will be your game. It's not about reading the game anymore but about fast passing and dribbling your way to the opponents goal. Got Adriano in your team? Shoot the ball from any angle and you've got a reasonable chance of scoring a goal. Got Martins? Just run your way past the defence, with ball he's faster than any defender without it.

Shooting for example is so easy you won't believe it. With Adriano you can score goals with your eyes closed. Players like Adriano and Rooney are in real life also hard hitters but with these players can shoot the ball is unrealistic.

There is no balance in this game, defending is hard becaues the offence is made too easy. The high true ball is pretty easy now, it's almost the same as it was in PES3.

Yeah sure, this game has many features that improves this game. The ref is better now, way better. The game seems to flow better and once again the animations are better now. The fast free kick is great and gave me some goals. More licensed teams now (Holland looks great) and more things like that. But in heavens name: Why did they make this game so unbelievable fast? The game feels weak, not finished.

No, I'm going to play this game, trying to learn it, but I'll keep on playing WE9.

review WE10

I think we 10 is great and not to easy in scoring goals like some people say, yes it is more easy than before to score but duuuuh it is as it was much to hard in older versions of the game, and now the defence of yor opponent is much stronger than before so it is more difficult now to get a shot on goal...in my opinion the game is just great specialy when you play on six stars then the game is perfectly balanced.
Also konami has improved some animations and gamplay is much more life like i love this game, and i would recommend it to all of the people that are good enough to play the game, and if your not then stick to PES5/WE9 or fifa ofcourse.

The game is pretty mediocre...it's fun because it's faster and more arcadeish, but my first 4 matches on 3 stars where: 4-0, 4-1, 4-0, 2-0... with my first 3 goals being 1 on 1 with the keeper and completely going around him with no problem. which concludes the game being incredibly easy...at 5 stars it gets a little better, but I still won 3-1 against barcelona with real at that lvl. The defense AI is retarded...actually let me refrase that THE WHOLE AI IS RETARDED! you can win 1 on 1 balls against defenders without the slightest sweat ...OH!...and the ref calls hand balls!!! WTF am I supposed to do if the game decides to bounce the ball against one of hands!...oh!...and what the hell is going on with the offsides being called against passive receivers?! I got a long pass with robinho onsides but ronaldo got called offsides eventhough he was 1/2 field away from the ball...that was one thing WE9 did incredibly well...it made the game super realistic...with some frustration...but now we are back to arcade play?...this sucks...looks like I'm sticking to WE9.

Yeah, i knew it would be this way.
All the odd numbered releases seem to be focused on a tougher simulation game style (PES 1, 2,5) whilst it seems that the even numbered WE's or ProEv's are arcade affairs (PES 2, 4, and now 6). I wont be playing WE10 or PES6 rather till it is released on the PC in the autumn as PES5 drove me to smash my PS2 up.

PES is no longer a great part of my leisure time as since PES3 which was the best game overall, IMO, the game seems to introduce more annoyances and aggravations into the gameplay with each new release. PES5 was way too frustrating with a horrible tilted pitch AI that would brutally dictate the outcome of matches regarldess of all efforts made by the players. If the AI in PES5 didnt want you to score.....you weren't ever scoring. A lot of people praised PES5 cos a mediocre player could beat a great player on his day whereas this could never happen on previous versions of the game. But if this David beating Goliath scenario is soley down to CPU intervention inthe game, it is a bad thing.

So its nice to see that Konmai have loosened PES6's belt and transformed it into a more fluid arcade experience.......but as with PES4, it seems like they have tipped the scales too far to the opposite of what PES5 was.

I think they dleiberately include flaws in the game. I mean, they have brought back 'hand-ball' decisions. Everyone hated those as it was something totally outwith the players control and there was much rejoicing when they were properly phased out...............but now they have brought them back.....why? Just why?

You've got it down to a tee - WE9 was WAY too stressful and over-complicated to call it an enjoyable game and doesn't catch that flow, feeling and beauty of a real football match. WE10 comes on leaps and bounds from 9 with this in mind and you can actually have a good few games without swearing at the TV.
