First, I am a pretty good PES player, and I do play on Top Player and I have had success in ML mode, BAL and also been playing a lot of World Cups and won quite a few.
I'm just stating that before the "learn 2 play" boys go crazy with belitteling insults.

So, I got really tired of playing Master League because I got some heavy losses against what I would call pathetic opponents.
I always win the first match, in style, though not always visible on the score line.
It seems to me that the PES2009 motor really detest losing, and suddenly strip my players of about 25% of all skills, while the opponent gets boosted to unspeakable heights.

To investigate, I edited Atletico Madrid so all the players was 90+ in the vital stats for their position.
Then made a new ML, using Atletico Madrid, and not surprisingly I won the first game in megastyle.
Complete control over the game and made some spectacular goals.
This match was against Galatasaray.

The second match was against Basel, a crappy team when comparing them to Atletico Madrid in real life, and even crappier compared to the edited version of Atletico I play in this particular save.
I lost the game, and hardly made a shot on goal, my players did not once do as I "ordered" them to on the opponents half, passes was made in the strangest directions and my players Response was notably lower than in the first game.
If I tried to dribble, even sprinting with pushing the ball ahead of me clear on goal, the opponents defenders wich have an average speed around 50% lower than my strikers easily caught up and disposed me of the ball.

edit: My teams form was just above average, a few orange arrows, one red arrow and the rest green in the starting line-up.

I don't mind losing a game, especially if I played crappy.
I would probably think it was OK that the CPU team got boosted to make important matches extra hard.
But nerfing my players to the point of being retared and useless, that really pisses me off.
And if that's the case, I am definetly losing my interest in this game.
The "form" arrows should be the only thing "nerfing" your players like that, wich in my opinion change too radically between matches as it is.

Am I just paranoid, or is this how it is in PES2009?
If it's like this, will PES2010 have the same feature?
I have become sceptical, having played PES2009 for almost a year, mostly BAL, I have discovered so many flaws in this game that I would not even call the programmers competent.
After all these years it seems about time to dig up my old copy of PES6.

Yes, that's scripting. I hate that.

Like you, I don't mind loosing when the other side plays better. But I don't think it's fair when this "momentum" ("scripting") makes my team to play like crap. It's very frustrating.

As I commented in other posts, I believe the scripting exists because of the poor AI. They had to do something otherwise we would only win. There is no other excuse for the scripting.

I really hope the scripting is out on PES 2010. I want a better and more difficult AI and not a cheater AI.

I can accept that scripting affects the opponent team.

I just cannot accept when it affects my own team (on BAL that is).

Iniesta shouldn't lose the ability to make pinpoint passes just because the game feels that I've done too good lately.

In my experience your whole team lose the ability to do anything sensible the second you enter the pitch, regardless of how you've performed in the past.
There are ofcourse a few moments of glory that your team does something brilliant without you being the main architect, but those are few and far between.

Most of the time my BAL team play a good game it's because I played the "playmaker" role to near perfection.
In most occations it's just my player that plays well and save the day by scoring individual supergoals.
This gets boring quite fast, and in my opinion, this mode could easily be made into a dynamic scenario that would keep PES players enthralled for a long time.
For example, if your team was able to perform well over a good period of time (i.e. if you play for Barcelona) and could win games without your player being the main factor, it would still push you to try and perform better and try to become THE main reason your team won the Champions League.

The way it is now is that you're just pissed when you lose the final in season 2 because your retarded team members hardly contributed anything during the whole campaign and the whole seasons fruits (medals etc.) is a result of your work only.

Ah. NOt sure if I've posted this before, but simply cheat back!

Somebody on some forum made me paranoid about scripting before. I think his words were "you get that sinking feeling when the CPU is just floating around your tackles, and pinging the ball about like it's super elastic and you just can't touch it...you're about to lose 2 goals!"

And it's funny because the times I think this, it normally happens (but perhaps that's just "weird coincidence" bias causing me to remember the times it happens and forget the times it doesn't...but whatever)

Anyway, to cheat back before each game, simply pick your best team, save the game manually, and then quit to top menu when things, in-match, seem unsalvageabale lol

Well they've admitted haven't they that 'momentum shifts' are present in the games, but the word 'scripting' would suggest a pre-thought out linear path that can't be deviated from so I disagree with that.
