OK excuse the thread title, I just didn't know what else to put sorry. Anyway...

I purchased PES 2010 a week ago for my Xbox 360 and have been playing ever since. I've come across something which is EXTREMELY annoying though. It seems that when it's a goal kick, if I tell my keeper to kick it long into the middle of the field, the other team ALWAYS get the ball. It's not even as if they get it the majority of the time, it's 'ALL' THE TIME.

A goal kick to me is basically a pass to the other team. It doesn't matter if I manage to head the ball as it's coming down or anything, I seem to either pass it to the other team or the other team receive it when it comes down from the air anyway.

On the other hand, I pretty much also SUCK at the game completely. I'm playing on the 2nd hardest difficulty as it seems just about right (the difficulty below this is too easy) but I still consider myself to be crap at the game.

I know absolutely no "tricks" etc, no way of doing any decent dribbling (for me it's just "RUN FORWARD UNTIL YOU APPROACH AN OPPOSING TEAM MEMBER, THEN PASS & HOPE IT DOESN'T GET INTERCEPTED"). I'm sure there's ways of not having to pass every single second of the game, but seeing as I have no idea how to out maneuver an opposing team member, I have to make do with just passing the ball with my fingers crossed.

Anyway, I would appreciate any help you can give me regarding all this. Thanks in advance :)

If you lose the ball often when dribbling, you're probably using sprint too often. Dribble without holding the sprint button and you'll get much better results. Also keep an eye on the ball and keep it away from the defender's feet. Sometimes angling the ball away a little bit will do and other times you need to turn away completely to shield it and pass it back because sometimes you gotta go back to go forward.

I agree goal kicks are lame and really favours the cpu team. It helps if your gk has good shot power and your forwards are big, strong, and good jumpers. If not you can try aiming the goal kicks towards the wings instead of straight down the middle.

If you're talking about fancy tricks and moves you can find them in the pause menu under command list. You can also find a crapload of tutorials on youtube.

Could it be that I'm playing in the Champion's League and I'm North London? I'm not a big football fan (I just like the video games) so I'm not sure if they're a good team or not, but I just chose "random" and it set me up with North London. I'm in the semi finals against Inter Milan and I'm having a very hard team beating them or doing ANYTHING to them to be honest. I can't keep possession of the ball for more than a couple of seconds and even when I pass the ball around it gets intercepted most of the time.

Play more, train more, and you'll get use to it. Obviously you'll soon find out that you should get some penalties, but it's almost impossible in this year's edition of the game.Anyway, it's like real life situation, train more and expect better results.

Also as you say you just got the game so its all new and it takes time to get used to before you undertand it.

North London = Arsenal = the best team in the world ;) (IMO)

In the game stats-wise they aren't the best, and lack height which might contribute to your problem. In general, though, it is difficult to win headers from goal kicks. For me, playing on Top Player for a long time now and finding the game way too easy, it's actually the fact that I win 99% of the goalkicks from the CPU that bothers me most.

Bottom line though, is that yeah, this needs to be fixed, but at the same time it shouldn't ruin your enjoyment of the game and really shouldn't effect your ability to win matches, especially since it happens in your favour as well. My guess though is that what you really need to improve on is defense and winning the ball back. This is done most effectively by pressing using the pass button (hold down) and also using the shoot button (hold down) which will cause two of your players to rush the player with the ball and try to win it back. Holding run at the same time and directing the movement of these players somewhat with the controller is the trick to getting posession and keeping the ball away from the opposition. And... If they can't keep the ball you don't have to worry about goalkicks ;)
