Shooting

Does the shooting piss anyone off online? really annoys me, couple of examples, keeper coming out and have a player free in the center, I pass it to him, all I need to do is tap square and the player blasts it over the bar.

same scenario except keeper not coming out, so I pass to the center, but he needs to hit it first time, and need to just slightly tap square to make sure he doesn't blast it over the bar, this time, the bar goes up, he takes a touch though and the player is slowly dribbling as I expected him to shoot but by the time I pressed square again, keeper comes out and takes the ball.

I don't know how many times I have got through on goal, and my opponent brings out his keeper, I try the tap thing again cause usually when you hit them a bit hard it makes it easier for the keeper to save as it's next to him, so I try the tap thing but they always hit it straight it to the keeper.

These three examples happen in nearly in every match, some prove to be costly, sometimes I wouldn't give a shit but if someone can give me tips would be good because when you're losing these tend to piss me off.

Any tips would be good, thanks in advance. :)

It happens to me at times, i normally put it down to slight lag as you approach/are in the opponents box. I doubt there's much you can do about it.

I might be wrong if it also happens during the half you host in. Are you on ps2?

I hope that you are are not trying to dribble up the touchline and then laying off for a dirty goal!!!

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what he's trying to do :D

But to be honest, i've had so many of those 'dirt goals' scored against me that i have designed a formation that is perfectly suited to score like that.

Now i find myself scoring like that pretty much 90% of the time. Those sweet, sweet open goals or first time shots the useless keepers are helpless against have won me many a game.

The only times i recall purposely not scoring like that is when i play you red, so consider yourself lucky...

Don't hate me :( lol

I bet you love em' really. You only hate them when they are scored against you, as i've come to realise. When you score them, it's a satisfying feeling knowing that you've slotted in a cheap, unskilful goal...then the final whistle blows and you're moreso proud of yourself.

And I hate creating them, my players hardly shoot first time., they might annoy you but, goals a goal :)

No I'm on the PC, what's online like on the PS2?

EDIT: Playing today, Eto'o on the right with 2 men on him with opponent bringing his keeper out, pass to Ronaldinho and then square before it gets to him, he takes one heavy touch so he is like a yard or 2 to the goal line at the right of the post, he shoots but somehow hits a curling shot over the bar. This is the worst effort and I as astonished that he never scored.

I am glad you don't do it against me, we have had some good games thus far, and long may it continue. I can understand why it is done, but feel it should solely be reserved for those that try and score this way, so if you are both doing it then I guess no harm done. Usually you can tell this by those that place attacking players on the corner flags on the formation screens.

It annoys me when people put 2 wingers on the corner flags and a centre forward, you have to put man mark on them or they will just stand there completely unmarked, I managed to counter it in PES4 after failing miserably but haven't seen anyone try it in PES5, maybe because it's harder to score from crosses, who knows.

Overall, it's very much worth getting. I spent over £120 to get everything working idealy and i hardly experience lag.

Most people online are orderly and you can have some decent games. Although you might become irritated with people picking Brazil all the time etc, but that's what blocking is for.

yep the game is slowed down

lag

slow down in general

Those cut back goals are terrible, no skill and then the person who scores them is like yes, what a goal. Those goals somtimes put me off playing online, most of the division 1/2 players simply use that method.

Why, Mr Wrigh, is that a dig at me?

I know a lot will be disgusted but i was forced into doing it, and to be honest, it works like a charm :) No longer do i have to sit and watch as my opponent strolls down the goal line and passes it to an unmarked striker who slots it in to a practically empty net (because the keepers are so dam shit).

Now if i do have to watch that type of goal, i just do it back, a lot.

Has anyone else found the glitch lay off free kick? Me and my mate have started using it online and I think opposition are clocking on to it.

One thing I don't like about the Lay off is why they change the button to lay off? I liked it when you pressed L3 (or was it R3? ) but now you have to hold L1, X and sometimes I don't take my finger off the L1 button in time so I end up doing some crappy chip, although I did score a good goal with the lay off 2 days ago.

I dont care if people score those cheap goals against me... Its a game of football for christ sake, if your opponent has a weakness then exploit it. It is your job to stick a defender out on the wing to stop them. i reckon I am decent at defending this sort of ting, I am just crap at going forward!

I am not sure if I score these cheap goals, I dont think I do as whenever I get into position I pass it to a centre back or the keeper! i just knock it out wide to one of my strikers who steams straight at goal, but on the abgle and then lamps it in almost full power...why bother passing it?

With a player like Adriano, Lampard or Sheva. From 35+ yards lay it off the them and do about 3/4 power bar while holding forward. The keeper runs forward a bit and the ball lobs over him. Easy, cheap goal.

Don't think I have had a cheap goal against me, soon as a player gets the ball on the wing, my defenders are well organised and get back, my full back can stall him out there so I don't have any problems with that, the problem I have when there are like 12 players in the box and you have know clue where the ball is, annoys me then the ball ends up in the back of the net.
