Having just recently bought PES 2009 on PC, and played 20 odd 15 minute games, I find it to quite entertaining and definitely an improvement on 2008. However, I was wondering if instead of concentrating on new modes like Champions League or Be A Legend, they would have just concentrated on improving the gameplay of 2008, it would have been much more enjoyable.
PES2009 still has some fundamental gameplay issues which were also present in 2008 and haven't been addressed. Stuff like
- very poor AI with regards to player movement (this is my main complaint, the others I don't mind all that much)
- termination of forward player runs the moment they collide with another player
- freekick taker remaining static if the ball rebounds off the wall
- unsatisfactory crossing from near the bylines (although I suppose this is more a personal opinion)
It can get very frustrating especially when you know Konami is more than capable of fixing atleast half of these problems. I hope one of these years they focus only on improving the gameplay of the previous year, without bothering about any new graphics/animations/moves etc it'll be extremely well received by PES fans. Anyone else think this?
