Surely they are trying to break some form of record here, with the rosters, the GK's, the matchmaking among other issues they are surely trying to take the title of biggest fall from expectation based on a demo.
IMO pes 2010 was the best football game ever, had a lot of good memories with the ML on that game, and once I played the demo for 2016 I had to rethink that opinion. I will admit what I have played of 2016 offline it still might hold that tag once the teams are properly updated so I can start a ML.
The problem is seriously online on 2016 is a joke and I have a winning record btw. Both seasons and myCr*p, that shockingly bad alternative to UT and a far inferior mode to what MLO was.
First Seasons matchmaking is embarrassing, when I'm West Ham I can get squads around the same level but when I'm between that and Real/Bayern/Barca I'm paired with the big dogs. When I am one of those I barely lose but whats the fun being only one of those big clubs. I support Man Utd but it never gives me a club that isn't one of those three, never a PSG or Juve, or another club that is closer to Man Utd's standard atm.
MyClub is a complete travesty, I played MLO in 2011 and 2012, it was fantastic in 2011 but too hard to get your squad off the ground in 2012. In 2013 I switched to Fifa until this year so I've become immersed in UT and its comparatively high standards of what it lets a player do.
With the starting squad never getting paired against someone who has both as bad players and chemistry, you just get battered game after game until you ship them out and get some better players.
Then its the hard slog to get their chemistry up to 99 because any lower is basically like having the team spirit of the KKK as half your team and the other half as the BlackLivesMatter movement.
Then its the fact that you can't change any of the tactics attached to your manager, we should be given a set formation or tactics not both.
10000 coins is decent for one player but coming from UT, there needs to be some sort of pack system or have the players that are bought have more than 10 contracts. Also side note, do Team of The Month players go up like UT TOTW? If not that needs to happen.
Then on to the actual online gameplay. I am in division 5 atm and last season I got 15 points from 5 games, then from the remaining 5 I got 1 point....Defense turned to cack, attackers were marking defenders rather than running away from them and it just looked like table football the way the ball was pinging around for all 5 of those other games.
Now I'm in division 5 with 11 points after 5 games.....4 straight losses mean I have to win this final game just to stay in a league where I dominate the first 5 games. The matchmaking system based on ranking is dumb, I've always felt that but it's not that bad in the first five games. The later 5 though, it either chucks me against world 11 with all level 35s or a joe average team with one superstar who rips me apart at will.
If I wanted to face a dirty script in the second half of a season of a football game I should have stuck with fifa rather than vehemently stand up for this game when the demo came out to my fifa tinted glasses friends.
GK's are laughably bad, and overall the pace of the game is terrible, with FIFA you can control the pace from park the bus to all out attack here there are three formations and they don't allow for enough control anywhere near as much as Fifa.
My 91 rated Ramos and 88 rated Godin are worse than my 91 Silva and 83 Howedes, I've shipped 5-6 goals with the former CB pairing about 5 times, Silva and Howedes in comparison haven't mainly because of the deformed intelligence system.
The midfield is none existent, trying to dribble with the ball is way too hard, using Close Control only moves the ball an inch at a time in any direction. At the same time though taking your finger off run trying to walk/dribble it around a player means they take a five yard touch forward and because stamina is none existent, even though most players run out of it by the 50th minute, it means the opponent can run into you and steal the ball.
The positional intelligence is horrid, the second I win the ball, irrelevant of how much pressure I'm under, the players around me charge forward like someone told them they left the oven on. Even players like Koke will charge forward and at the same time, avoid the 20 sq yards of free space in midfield, and practically have a tickling contest with the opposition player that hes that close to him.
When the ball does fall to someone to someone who is free the computer just lets the ball bounce off them, its as if when I am not the player they are not watching the play. The passes never go to the obvious furthest man whose charging towards goal unless you wallop the pass instead picking some player jogging behind the guy with the ball. The positional switching never lets you pick someone who can stop a goal, if the ball is played back it just locks onto the defender behind the attacker until said attacker is past the far better defender, because I'm stuck on the guy behind and the computer intelligence is non-existent, and now switching to him is useless.
The Attackers have no idea how to stay onside when running straight or how to curve a run, they just run full pelt straight towards a wing. When they are in midfield however, they will stand there watching the much slower CM go past them rather than run forward to receive the ball from the CM. They just stand there for the ball, but because they first touch is so abysmal, it makes it a non option.
The overall control of pace is not there, it will always become some ping pong passing game, bouncing off CB's and dropping to wide mid's in CM slots and middle players out wide because players never recover position. I have tried multiple times in many games to slow this pace down, even when the ball has gone out of play and let my players walk dribble and Close Control dribble it but they just get tackled by the 99 stamina opposition irrelevant of what is presented in their player bar.
Also with FK's, why does the short FK always go to some full back behind me to the opposite side of where the free players are in front of me, even when I bring the help bar up and place it across the ground to the right, it will go to the left back behind me on the left.
Penalties are really bad, put enough power to keep the circle in the target and it will dribble in, but put enough on to make sure the ball can go top corner and it will almost always go over.
I had a lot of discussions with friends about this years football games and at my heart I am a PES guy, I rated this game so highly during the demo releases, but this game is so shoddy online at the moment I am considering becoming one of those people that trade it in for fifa.
Don't forget I have a winning record in all my modes, if people that are winning are ripping your gameplay to shreds for it being moronically easy to win and devoid of AI when defending, you know you done goofed!
P.S I know when people rage playing games its quite funny and I am laughing a bit at what I've written, but I'm mostly laughing at the game at this point in time. I'm more annoyed that I staked so much on this game being amazing to all my friends and now if they were to ask me about the game I don't know what to say, offline is amazing, online is embarrassing.....just why Konami?
