Here we go again.

I got a pretty good team kicking but I've grown tired of some of the players and my payroll is too high in relation to what I have won sofar (the D2cup:) I'm in 6th place in Div.1 England and my payroll is 35,000P. The end of the season is approaching and I probably will not hit the mark in terms of paying those salaries and so I'm looking to sell.

Here's the breakdown mates:

NOT SELLING
1. Schwartz
2. Van der Sar (he's 19 so I know he's gonna get dirtayyy)
3. Kompany
4. Vanden Borre
5. Pato
6. Hofs (although he's getting on a bit)

WOULD SELL:
1. M.Richards (I just got him, I like him, he's 22, BUT he cost me 19,000 in tranfer fees and a 5000 salary)
2. Kruger
3. Walton
4. Shimizu

I like Walton and Richards but I think I gotta start going after some big name talent to top the english league. I know Kruger and Walton will continue to get better, not sure about richards. Shimizu is aight, just kinda sick of him is all, plus I could probably fetch a good price.

ANY suggestons on how to balance the books here. Would anyone advise against getting rid of any of the guys mentioned? Perhaps some alternative, cheaper buys? IS richards worth the fee for a side back?

Finally, I cannot find Bos or Shaw??? This is my 3rd season and that would mean 6 tranfer windows with no mention of either, how longmust i wait?

Thanx in advance.

Mate, it's hard to give any comment as you haven't shown us your whole team. From the perspective you've given, all we can say is.. yer sell em, if you need the cash

A full squad list would be useful :)

I would definitely drop shimizu. He isn't as great as he seems to be.
With Richards i think you need to decide whether or not you can successfully develop him in that position. Generally it is easier to develop attacking players. It seems like you have a lot of young talent on your team but if you aren't winning as much i think you might want to balance the team out. With a young keeper like van der sar its better to have a mature back line that has better stats in order to help protect the goal keeper. Since it seems you have a lot of attacking talent you should focus your money on those players. When those players mature and score goals regularly you can use your money to buy top defenders. From there you can slowly bring in younger defenders and start the process all over again.

What about subs? If you give a list of your full team including subs, then I can give insight into how you could play while losing some players :) Cheers

Subs are A$$, here goes:

Ivanov
Libermann
Bauman
Iouga (38, f'in retire)
Van der berg
Foque
Cafu (17)
Litmanen (17)
Stein
Gutierraz
Ordaz
Hamsun
Larsson (38 and not bad actually)

I think thats all, lots of given default players nobody wants. I was thinking of selling the above mentioned (richards, etc) and perhaps adding a couple of cheaper players to fortify the bench.

Thanks man,

Kruger's good in the air but he is the weakest of my d-line. Hope I can win enough games and get some offers to keep this team alive, Ithink its a pretty good, young team.

I'm into the second half of season 2 but cannot see shimizu or Schwartz. From the sounds of this thread Shimizu is no great loss but would like Schwartz. Funnily though I have had Bos & Shaw from the very first transfer window???

I'm with you BMI, how long do you have to wait for some of these players?

Also I'm in the red by about 8500, so I have a bit of selling to do myself.

.

I'm in my 7th season, still no Bos or Van Dijk, the two defenders I want most. It's just random, really.

Shimizu is good for a season or two (his peak is ridiculous, but extremely brief), but is really just too damned short to compete in midfield.

To the OP, if I were you, I'd get to work trying to trade off just about the whole bench, and sell Shimizu. Micah Richards is indeed pretty stupendous, but you've paid far too much for him. See if you can sell/trade him and pick up someone like Drenthe, Matty Taylor, or Huddlestone (even though he doesn't officially play SB, I've found he works great pretty much anywhere in the back).

Keep Micah Richards as he turns into one of the best players in the game.
Well done on balancing the books tho.
Bit like leeds isnt it!!!

Thanks boys, the input is very helpful (i think managing a real team is alot harder than I had first thought:)

To update, I wheeled and dealed and survived yet another close call in terms of going bankrupt. Here's the changes, I would LOVE to know what you guys think about them:

SOLD Shimizu for Kaiser almost straight up,when I saw sucess onthe deal I was soooooo excited, I just have grown to hate that little tard falling around all over the place, he can take his 95's and go disappoint some other team. Obviously Kaiser is crazy, he's 17 and already good (though you all kow that).

Picked up Andy Cole for 450P, didn't play for a team.

Sold Stein, traded foque, sold Gutierrez.

I was thinking of wrapping Gutierrez up in a trade to get Van der Vaart, then selling Hofs to make up the difference but thats still taking on alot of payroll for a guy thats going down. BTW, whay is Van Der Vaart rated so bloody high in this game? What has he done in real life? They rate him like he's Zizou!!!

So the changes are many, not so much on the field as the only replacement in the starters is shimizu for kaiser and having a young andy cole off the bench. I doubt I'll contend fortop spot just yet but if i may say this team has plenty of growth potential. Scwartz (20) Pato (22) Walton (20) Kruger (20) Walcott (19) KAISER (still glowing over this) 17.

Finally, Hofs won assist leader for both the league and the cup, Schwartz won the scoring title (has done so every year on my team) So that pumped around 8,000P in my account (can't rely on this though every year). Hofs has to be one of the best buys in the whole game, I got him for 530P and he's just a solid all round player.

Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance mates.

Van der Vaart doesn't actually drop till about 30-31. He has a double peak with a small dip in between, and that second peak hits about 95!

Really, so Van der vaart is a top draw seemingly. Not sure I can even swing that, i have about 5000P and gutierraz to dangle for him, i got him once but was over 2000P over with kaiser and the rest of my team.

I like my team as is and I'm just grateful that iwas able to even survive at all. Its just that I'm going to playinthe Champions league and would like an older player i know is good to help with winning a couple of fixtures. The team is young but not good enough to go far in the Europe I guess. Thats the reasoning behind Van der vaart.

Maybe I'll just see how I play until the mid-season transfer window and then reasses. What do u guys think? Maybe Kruger for Van der vaart? Or is that giving to much young talent for a ringer?

VDV would really come down to where you're playing Kaiser, imo, though Kasier does take a while to peak. VDV plays AMF, DMF, CF, SS, so he's certainly not bad to have around, given his attack gets up to around 97. Kaiser as DMF plus VDV as AMF is a pretty hellacious midfield.

Never though of Kaiser as a DMF, have not played with him yet. If I cannot land VDV what would you think of this formation in midfield.

............................vanden borre...........Kaiser.........................

....................Hofs..............................................Walcott....

Would that suffice or is their a better way to employ these 4 ballers?

Think of Kaiser as occupying the "Xabi Alonso on his good days" role. Yes, his attack is pretty crazy, but he's got better defense than most pure AMF/CMFs (VdV included), and superior passing/attack/tech when compared with the average DMF, which makes him the perfect deep-lying playmaker. He can win the ball off nearly anyone when he's developed, and he can put it in all the right places.

I'm not familiar with Hofs, but I have all three of the others at the moment, and they work well together. I play a different formation, though I have Kaiser and VB in roughly the same places as you, and it's a good pairing. I usually play Walcott as WF instead of SMF, but I can't imagine him playing handling the positions too differently, aside from maybe a hit to his stamina.

Good stuff, I have thought of switching to 4-3-3 with Walcott further up. Although, once he takes the ball at the center line and turns a corner he cannot be caught thus setting up good crossing opportunites for Schwartz and Pato.

Thanks for the suggestion.
