am i being thick or what??
i have owned iss pro evo 2 , pes and pes 2 but i still dont fully understand the point of the arrows by the players name on the teamsheet.
can anyone help me??
i think they are something to do with the form of the player, but can someone put me out of my 3 year misery!!
i've even looked at guides on the site, but the guide to arrows always seems to be being modified!
please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Red pointing up = very good
Grey pointing down = very bad

Others in between = in between...the more it points north the better

Does it mean how well the player will play in the match, or just his condition? Because if you look after 75 minutes the players with the poorer arrows have less fitness left so is it just to show who will get tired quickly or who will play above their abilities?

Hmmm..I had assumed it was just how "up" a player was for the match, and that this meant he played to his best and lasted better.

There has been a huge discussion about these arrows a while ago but it seems like the thread (in the Hints & Tips section) but the thread seems to have gone missing. Abducted perhaps by Nokami so we won't find out what they are for!

I think Spike is correct with his interpretation. Higher arrow players will be much more successful in all that they do. Try playing a match with your players all set to each of the arrows settings and you will notice a big difference in how they react.

Seems like the stats get a boost or a deduction based on the arrows but we're not certain on that.

Some things can easily be notices to change, such as speed of player, ball control, speed of passing, success of passing, success of shooting and so on.

If other strikers are off form and he is on form even Heskey gets a match for me!

If the arrows are to do with form I hope they make them more realistic - e.g when u score a hatrick in a match the player doesn't have a blue arrow pointing down in the next, like it did in PES2

Oh yes, you can say that again. Before commencing the International Cup ( I have chosen Brazil), I have something like
2 pink down arrows and about 4 blue arrows on my first eleven. Almost half of the team was unfit and I have to replace them immediately. Mind you, some 3-4 substitutes and reserves were also found unfit. It was no surprise I lost my first match.

i think they should introduce what they had on the old iss on the snes where it was little faces i think that would be alot easier to understand

thanks everyone,
thats really conclusive!!!(i think)
i've looked in the instruction book and the description is really crap

so the higher the arrow and the redder the better- hes on form and is fit?

but the changing of the arrows is just totally random??

that seems a bit strange

so if shevchenko has a grey down arrow does he suddenly play like heskey, or heskey arrow up will play like shevvy?

cos i've never really taken that much notice of them as i didnt know what they were for

Once I started paying attention, and choosing players based on the arrows, I noticed a sharp increase in my performances, especially defensively, which was always a problem for me. 30 games with 22 clean sheets can't be wrong. Mind you, that was on hard, extreme is another story....

Totally, I have a squad of about 25 players and only select people that are green arrows or above, with 4 bars of fitness.

Re: Faces in the original ISS. Good idea! If I recall if they had the saddest face and were playing, all they would do is stand still and look at the ground shaking their head!

I agree that Konami should bring back the faces because they were cool .. i liked the faces ... there was nothing more satisfying than playing in a league and pulling up after a hard match and having lots of yellow faces bouncing around doing back flips ..
