The Art of the Dive

Hi guys I'm pretty sure this is the right thread to post this, if not I apologise and please move this to another thread. But I want your opinions on the dive. Let's face it the dive is a big part of our modern game, in fact some people out there might say that World Cup Germany was shaped by the dive.. Italy won the cup from some high degree of difficulty artistic dives that might even make a splash in the world diving championships. I'm not bagging the Italians, actually far from it. I think good on them if that makes the cup theirs!!

Ok that brings me to my point. In Winning Eleven, obviously everyone here knows that the players fall involuntarily from contact with a defender, most times a foul is called, sometimes they're called to play on. Fair enough, this part of the game is great and should be left unchanged (Especially in WE10 as it has been tweaked from it's predecessor which some of us thinks doesn't give us a free flowing game). But picture yourself with C. Ronaldo running down the right sideline, and Roberto Carlos hot on his heel and has just caught up trying to get the ball with a body check, and then he knocks out the balance of Ronaldo without him falling over, slows him down enough and takes the ball.. I can just see at that point of contact, some players would actually deliberately dive to try and win the free kick, and sometimes they will get it. So what I'm saying is, give us a dive option in the game!! It's supposed to be the best soccer simulation out there, and I love the game myself! But it might even get a bit more realistic if there is an option to dive. Now the game would go on as usual, players would fall normally without the dive command being pressed. But at times a dive can make or break a game, and it might be an idea for Konami to think outside the square. Afterall a dive can get you a yellow card if the ref thinks you're faking it, the ref would also be playing on if he doesn't think there's much in it.. So the Dive command will be designed to be used with discretion, and you might not like it when players dive on the field. But it's a big part of our game and I think it's about time that we have an option to dive if it's called for.

I'd love to be able to use the dive as an option. But then again, i'd hate to see it used against me to claim an unjust penalty!

Therefore i wouldn't like to see it implemented.

No, the game is in dissaray(?sp?) as it is, why add one of the worst parts to the game into a video game? This will only make the younger generation feel it is ok.

I'd quite like it to be added, would be funny when playing against your mates, and aslong as you could turn it off and on like.

yeah if the dive option would be aded into several future games, this would be added, but with the option for you turn it off if you think diving ruins football or turn it on if you are playing 2 player and you wanna make a fool of your mates by being e.g fukin zokora and make an absolute blatant dive.

personally i'd have it on for several occasions, but i wouldnt have it on if i was about to play a master league. it would be absolutely heartbreaking for us pes fans if when you're in a d1 cup final and your opponent dives in the box to get a pen and then he scores it to win the cup for his team. it would be absolutely diabolical.

How Ironic. There is Harry Redknapp after the Zakora incident, pleeding for Technology to be introduced to get "The Dive" out of the game in reality, and here, this thread with ProEvo technology, wants " The Dive " in the game.

Keep the dive out. It's ugly, its cheating and it wont be part of the game for too long in my opinion. Hopefully by the end of this decade, or maybe the start of the next, technology will be part of the game, and the dive will be an instant red card.

Somthing that there trying to get out of the game because it's cheating and unsporting....so you suggest they put it in the game?

The best thing to add if they want to make it more realistic is:

Streakers
Fights
Pitch Invasions
Objects thrown on to the pitch.
Abandond matches due to weather conditions.
Contraversial goals.
Better hand balls.

Just a few there.

Yes, being able to turn it on and off would make it good to have, as an extra option for gameplay. I would hate it used against me but would love it when I do it to someone, like on TIF and World Soccer on the PSP...

Diving is a big part in the game, thats true, but having it in Pro6 would just make youngsters think of doing it and it wouldnt set a professional example.

I liked it on TIF where you got booked if you didn't time it right. And maybe it should be an option to buy in the shop. Not a pre-set in the game.

Yes, sometimes, when in the box, I feel the need to dive, 'cause I have nothing to do.

Oh Diving, it brings me memories of Torres:tongue:

True.

But, adding the dive into the game would be more fun, however it would need to be very difficult to do, and a lot of yellows for it, in order to show young kids it's wrong.

Diving is scummy and cheating, so hell no, it'll just encourage cheating more. What next? A handball option where you press L1 and the player sticks out his hand to palm the ball to another player or into the goal? Why add bad parts of the sport into a game? Maybe they should put racist chanting in, when you do La Liga or Serie A because it happens in real life.
