The PS3 Trophy Error

Thought I'd bring this to any PlayStation 3 owners attention, as many people are getting this error. Basically, there is some sort of glitch in the firmware since 2.5 which is causing trophies to either freeze the system, or corrupt game save data. There is a variation in the errors, some more major than others. The main cause (not in my case however) appears to be if you change the e-mail address or password of your PSN account. A few have no problems at all, but for now, I'd advise you avoid this.

An example of this error:
http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&thread.id=3465730 (A 20+ page thread made 2 months back)

The simplest form of the problem is when it displays the message "You did not earn a trophy", as shown here. This is a relatively easy fix, but you are required to delete your game save in the process. It seems to only happen on Warhawk, where I had only spent a few hours anyway.
I managed to fix it by deactivating my PSN account, backing up all my save data from every game, then deleting the user account on the XMB. I then made a new user, filling in the required info of my PSN, then re-activating the account. Next I put all the saved data back onto the PS3 minus the Warhawk data (otherwise the problem will persist). Finally, I had to re-download Warhawk from the store (obviously this step is unncessary for those with the disc). Voila! A lot of steps, but at least there is a solution.

Now, for the more complex issues. This occurs only on trophy enabled games (e.g. LittleBigPlanet, Rock Band 2, Burnout Paradise). When starting up the game a message says that your save game was "created by another user". This is completely false, as the save data came from the exact same PlayStation 3. On certain games (for me, Burnout Paradise) you must create a new save game and delete your previous one, losing all progress. On other games (such as Dead Space, seen here), the game will not even load, rendering your game unplayable and useless.

Sony have not fixed the issue yet, which in itself is farcical. But if you were to contact their technicians with the problem, they will simply ask it in for repair or say it is a problem your end. All that is required is a firmware fix, but until then watch out. Trophies are a decent addition, but I'd much rather have gone without them to save the hassle.

EDIT: Don't start with the fanboyism either. :faceplm:
This is just a warning for PS3 owners, and not an invite for ridiculous console slating.

PS3 seems to get alot of software errors, whereas on the 360 it's hardware.
