Guide to making an image of WE8 and then patching it. By jag87:

You will need the following tools and software:

DVD Decrypter: http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/1011845169/1
PPF O Matic: http://www.paradogs.com/download/pdx-pom3.zip

1) Firstly insert your WE8 DVD into your DVD-ROM drive & load up DVD Decrypter.
2) From the source dropdown, select your correct DVD-ROM Drive.
3) Next, click on MODE > ISO > READ. This is so that the program can read and then rip your WE8 into an .ISO format on your hard drive.
4) Then click on the DVD to Hard disk icon. This should then create an .ISO file.

Patching using PPF O Matic:

WE8 patching has begun but is at a preliminary stage with only translations and boot packs released.

5) Open up PPF O Matic and then select the location of your WE8 ISO
6) Locate the .PPF format patch you wish to apply and then click apply!

*Depending up on the size of the patch you apply, a message will appear shortly after you press the apply button telling you to burn!

8) Re-Open DVD Decrypter
9) Next, click on MODE > ISO > WRITE. This is so that the program can read and write your WE8 into a bootable DVD Image to play using a Modchip or via Swap Method
10) Click on the little folder ICON and locate your patched WE8 DVD Image
11) Insert a blank DVD-R and burn!

To patch WE and PES games you must patch a clean and unpatched image (ISO) of the game. Keep the original of your clean image safe and do not patch it. Keep it in a safe folder and label it clearly so you do not patch it. Make a copy of this clean image and patch it. Once patched, burn the patched image and then you may delete it. Then make another copy of the clean image and burn that. You cannot unpatch a patched image. If you patch your original clean image, you will have to delete it and then make the ISO from your original DVD again.

To apply Fernando's translation patch to your ISO - you use ppf-o-matic3 to apply the .ppf patch to the WE8 ISO. That is it. Then you burn the patched image.

Stupid question here, do u have to burn the DVD twice (1 patched and 1 clean)??? Does that mean to use a DVD-RW?

Do u mean make another copy of the clean image for future patching??? or to burn the clean image into the patched DVD again (sorry if the question sounds stupid, I've never done this before)???

OK, you have your original and clean (unpatched) image.
Do not patch this. Make a copy of it and then patch the copy.
Once you're done with the copy, delete it and then you can start again with a new copy of the original.

If you burn the unpatched image, you have a backup of your original game with no patches. Cool?

are there any kits released cause i have seen some the new man utd kit the arsenal kit but on a different forum and if the kits are released how can i import them to my iso image cause i just made one it's 690 MB by ppf-o-matic?

One simple question. From what I see all the patches are for dvd (or am I wrong?). I have a copy of WE8 but its a cd. how can I patch it and which patches can I use?

I have no info about patching the CD version. Hopefully someone who knows about it will make a thread about how to do it.

Old_Blk: One patch per disk. If you want another patch, you apply it and burn it onto another disk. One way to save on burning DVDs/CDs is to put your patched WE8 onto the PS2 hard disk. Otherwise buy some more DVDRs. Or you can use DVD-RW but not all PS2s will play them.

gedo, I don't know about importing kits yet. When there is more info for it, we'll post a guide to doing it.

Patches are are applied to the image of the game and burnt onto CD/DVD.

Option files, goals and other mem card files are transferred between your PC and memory card using X-Port and Max Drive. Option files can also be burnt onto CD to load them.

The hard disk is a method to boot your game.

Repeat: patches must be burnt onto a disk and played using a modded PS2.

I have fernandos 0.4 patch on the cd and i downloaded jonboyos cd rip patch
Can i still burn it again?

How do i make it work?

I know the first step is making a DVD ISO of WE8, and DATA_J.AFS is in there but how do I open it with AFSExplorer? Do I extract DATA_J.AFS to a new folder first...?

Yes extract the data_j from your ISO with Apache for example. Then you can open it with AFS Explorer or WEStudio.

Burn ISO file

I've already done everything in the "quick guide, by Mathie" to patch we8. However, after doing all, when I try to burn the ISO file with DVD Decrypter it gives an error - Invalid or Unsupported file format.

Can anyone help me??

have tried to create iso with iso buster, open isobuster click session then right click red iso click extact files into a named folder i.e w/e 8 dvd. ten files moved into folder. then i open graphic studio import data j-afs to amend kits problem then is how do i put the updated data j-afs back into the iso and with what also if i am burning with nero what do i click on to burn the game . my first time at this and i am totally lost. any help are links to where i can find the answers would be most appreciated.

zyg, I am trying to edit the database, but I can't find an editor for WE8 and everyone seems to work with option files.

I can't find xport in Athens and I can't get the cd thingy (move option files to PS2 by CD) to work .

Have you heard whether Kmochida will be developing an editor for WE8?
