Video-games induce violence???

Manhunt to be banned?

Is the old story of video-game violence influencing youth true?

I own the game in the article - and I've had no urges to go out and cut someone's throat with a shard of glass or choke them with a carrier bag. Hell, my 11 year-old brother has played it and he's fine.

So do violent games create vioent people, does it release the inner-violence from normal people - or is it just a scapegoat for those looking to point the judgemental finger?

i have the game, and i havent kill anyone. i think that no one knoes. as i was reading that at frist they did incourage vilent acts, but in the last report a university said that being abable to be vialient in game let us lose stress with was meant to couse the vilence in the frsit place.

i think that in this case that A: the kid mite not be 100%, like you say i know people that play the game and there fine, B: the lawers use it as an excuse to get less time for there clients

people are always blaming violence on music or games which is just ridiculous cos as you have both said we all play violent games all the time or we listen to music which may say about killing or hurting someone

what the court should really look at is the boys state of mind cos he can't be all there.

Some people have a sick point of view.

If it was the fault of the game, then Everyone who played it would be commiting murders. And why were these kids playing an 18 rated game anyways???

On Channel 5 news they had a poll and 89% of voters apparently said that these types of games should be banned

If people brought up their kids properly then there wouldn't be so many problems in society and less blame spread around.

Amen to that its all bs in all honesty its like this games geezer said on the new do you really need a step by step guide on how to use a knife is it really hard to smacks omeone over the head with a hammer yes the parent of the teenager must be devestated and i think ever yone can understand that but they shouldnt choose games as a scapegoat.

Arghh, just ridicolous bullshit. I mean, if you´re sick enough to kill someone, because you saw it in a video game, then you´d be also sick enough to do it without having seen it in the game. But quite likely you get mitigating circumstances when you say that you only did it because you saw it in a game and wantd to test it in real life

As usual, it's the superficial people who seek someone/something to blame for an incident, rather than actually engage their brains properly and think outside of music/video games/television.

But of course, the theory that all of us square-eyed, technology inspired and ridiculously impressionable teenagers are so easily influenced by whatever we see on the square boxes we sit infront of that we'd copy it without regard for our morals.

We're all ticking timebombs don't you know?

There was this program on tv a while back.............

A Haitian guy who wanted to Ban Vice City said "When kids are 14 they kids kill Hatians in the game and think that is okay. When they are 22 and flying army MIG's or F16's they will still think it is okay to bomb the Hatians and will continue doing it." I could'nt believe it :eek: It was such a bad comment

First hardly any people become fighter pilots
Second you can't just drop bombs without codes
Third even if u did have bombs and u bombed Hatians u would go to jail so no-one would do it anyway.

Exactly.
And if the games were banned then people might blame movies and then if they got banned they'd blame music and then even books.

People can't take responsibility for their own actions. And these are the kinds of people who are free to reproduce every single day......

What about all those trenchcoats arseholes who shoot up schools in the States?

They don't do it because of GTA or Manhunt.

They do it beacause they're freaks.

Bah. Now zats an argument, ain´t it ?

I blame Need for Speed and The fast and the Furious for them. All these punks think they can drive reallly fast coz they seen it in some film/game.

I also blame Spiderman for people jumping off buildings and thinking they will survive.

After the Columbine shootings a lawsuit was filed against several games companies, blaming them for influencing the killers.
