What is the difference between a patch and an option file?

This thread is for PC.

I assume a patch and an option file are not the same thing.

So what does an option file do exactly? Do I need third party software?

What does a patch do? Do I need third party software?

Can I install a patch/option file on its own without the other?

I am playing the original PES 2009 with the latest official updates from Konami. I have never used an option file or patch before.

I would like to have the latest transfers and also perhaps the bundesliga if possible.

I hope you can recommend me something that does not involve having to install third party software and something that will not hinder me from playing online after I install.

Cheers

An Option file is basically a game save, so generally things are unlocked or the in-game editor is used to create kits and the like.

Patched is exactly as you'd expect, it means that files within the game are "patched" or replaced with external media, for example with kits; an image is taken of the actual shirt and replaces the image used by the game in the directory folders. Same with things like music and menus. Anything in the game can be patched.

Because I don't play the PC version, I'm not sure what you'd need to work it, but for option files I'd say that you probably don't need any third party software.
