What will the success of PES 2009 be like?

I loved the demo but I am seeing a good amount of people bitch about the game this year too. Do you think this game will keep more people playing PES this year or cause even more people to leave this year after PES 2008?

I get sad reading all these anti comments about the game when I loved the demo, found it more fun than FIFA. It makes me concerned that Konami will continue to lose more and more of the market each year or am I wrong to be concerned? Maybe since FIFA 09 just came out people are amped about it but by the time the PES 2009 game comes out people will be burned out and then excited about PES 2009 and start saying how much deeper they think the gameplay is. what do you think will happen?

Yeah after the pes 2008 rendition it is only fair that people will compare it to that game. Lots of people were disappointed with it and thus will take them a while to get it out of their minds and thus these comparisons will always be drawn. This in my opinion is why there has been some negative criticism. It is only a demo let us all remember! However having said this by the time the game is released and the 1st reviews come out i am sure it will much more of a success than pes 2008. It has improved immensely and with new features like the Champions League then i am sure this will give people the incentive to buy it. The demo feels like the older pro evos which can only be a good thing. On another point success depends on the online elements. If it has improved in this way there is no doubt it will be successful.

I think I have been 1 of the worse for this over the last couple of months.... PES & Konami have come under alot of criticism from my posts but I feel my points are just. Obviously overs, including yourself will probably disagree with my views. But I just don't think Konami have come far enough in terms of "EVOLUTION" - Ironic considering the games title.

From what I have played of PES2009 myself & read, seen from vids/screenshots off ere, does nothing to sway my opinion. I just see that we are playin a revamped PES2008 (IMO PES08 werent a great game, but it certainly did not stop me from puttin in hours, days, weeks & months of gameplay into it) & for quite alot of people this is not good enough, I partly agree, but from what you just read in the brackets of this paragraph it did not stop me from gettin my monies worth.

FIFA on the otherhand has never interested me, but due to the disappoinment of last years PES I decided to splash out & buy FIFA08. I werent, as usual overly impressed by the graphics or gameplay & it in no way shape or form competed with my love of PES, not even PES2008. & I found myself having more fun in the ARENA at the sart of the game. The realism of the skills & movement, even down to the Ronaldinho trademark freekick & penalty kick run-up during the ARENA mode was awesome & I still find myself putting alot of time into the online play on the game, but aart from thee 2 perks, I didn't find much to write home about.

I think Seabass, Konami & the whole PES team need to step up there game now, cos FIFA is now not too far behind. Konami need to stop relying on he fact that they have dominaed so long sway their progress of future PES titles. Because it does not take much for people to switch between titles, especially when their hard earned cash is envolved.

I will buy both again this year, due to the fact that the PES2009 demo has far from impressed me. I aint tried FIFA09 yet, so I could be parting with £30-40 for nothing. But hey, thats the gamble we all take.

I am not trying to pick an argument or nothing, but could you just tell me in what way you think the new game has improved from PES2009. Cos I must be blind or dmb or something, cos from what I have played or seen so far, I aint come across them.

I suppose at the end of the day there will allways be criticism chucked at pes, this is good because in the long run it makes it a better game. I for one love the pes 2009 demo , and have allways bought pes every year. Last year i bought pes 08 and because of the online lag i never played it, so in my eyes that was £40 wasted. I played the fifa 09 demo and thought wow this is not bad, so i bought the game. I know people will frown, but i hate to say this but fifa is just that good this year. There is another reason i bought fifa this year though. My son has an xbox 360 and he is into the fifa games , so when pes 2009 comes out i will just give fifa 09 to him.

I wouldnt worry. PES 2009 will sell like hot cakes as it always does. Sea bass will again be able to buy another 10 houses this year. Whether its rubbish or a brillant game, true Pes fans will always by pes year on year. People who say they no longer will by Pes and will move onto Fifa or not buy any game...I wouldnt believe them - they'll buy pes. Its an addiction.

The success is what you make it.

In terms of sales... it depends how they market it and how good the reviews are.

Obviously i will be getting pes 2009 without a doubt, i just had a quick look on the fifa forum and apparently the flaws are starting to seep through. There are quite a few unhappy chappies, and then there are the ones who choose to just ignore the flaws. Hmmm maybe i should have waited a week before shelling out , good job i have my son as a backup then.

^^Haha^^.

Yea, PES2009 wil be a deferante purchase for me... even tho I can honestly say I hate the demo (so far) Like I have seen somone post before, PES sort of grows on you. You have to develop as you play, well that is what I have noticed over the years of Pro Evo anyway. You have to nurture your talent to become the best.

I bought Fifa 09 also and ive been quite impressed so far. No games without flaws. It plays different to PES so its taking abit getting used to. Im sure thats why PES people who play FIFA hate it and why FIFA people who play PES hate that. Each games plays different and it depends on what your used to and how you like to play.

Id expect this year many people will be buying both games. Both games will be great. Great for gamers!!!

Totally agree pal... I got FIFA08 about 3-4 months when I got bit bored of the repetiveness of last years Pro Evo 08 & I just played the game how I play Pro Evo, short passing game, similar to Arsenal/Man Utd style of play. It did come off more often than not, but was quite frustrating at times due to the poor passing of FIFA. hopefully they have improved on that part of the game, which I heard they have??, So I might b inclined to get both again.
