What's the best way to introduce yourself to new neighbors?

We just got our first house. We're very excited and what to start our relationship with our new neighbors right. What is a good gift to bring when stopping by to introduce yourself to your neighbors? I thought wine, but what if they don't drink? I could bake them something, but what if they're diabetic? What about flowers? I've never done this before, so any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance!

Fruit is always good, i remember when our neighbour moved in they bought over rockmelons (it was summer) and a refreshing beverage and we had that and sat down in the backyard and chatted for a bit, good mates now.
