Why can't I find my friend online

I tried to search for a topic like this but I couldn't find a search feature for these forums :(

Both my and my friend's system is PS3. I'm in California (USA) and my friend is on Germany. Yesterday we tried for 2 hours to get a game going. We messaged and were able to see and connect to the same server and lobby but weren't able to see each other. I even searched for him and he searched for me and got no results back.

We think that this might be because we had different versions. His said "1.00.02" and mine said "1.00.00". He was even able to see more servers that I could. He could see 7 or 8 and I could only see 2. If this is the case, where can I download this version?

Or does anyone knows why or how we can fix this so we can get in a game? Thanks for the help.

u guys both need the same versions u go to system settings > download should be at the bottom press that and look for data update (oct 08)

In the game menu, I go to System Settings. At the very end there is an "Install" item that is currently grayed out. But I don't have any "Download" item.

I'm I missing something? Does anyone else has this issue?

im having a similar problem, whenever i try go onto System Settings - Download, i get the message 'Cant retrieve information from XBOX LIVE, Please try again later'

I cant get version 1.00.02, dunno why.
any suggestions???

If its PS3 your on about I found that you have to istall the V1.20 patch before you can use the download feature in the game. If its XBOX, I aint got a clue, get a PS3!!

Thanks for the info. But how do I download the patch? From the PS3 menu? Where?
Also where did you find that info?

You should get prompted to update it as soon as you put the dick in your PS3. Its in your PS3 system settings menu.
