Why does it cheat?

PES is not alone in this but it is a big dirty stinking cheat. For example I played Olympiacos in the league early in the season and beat them 5-1. Then played them late on in the season (the match before cup final) and won 4-0. They were pretty much useless. I played Olympiacos in the cup final and they were hard to break down and their midfield had clearly been taking steroids. I scraped a 1-1 in normal time. The game went to pens and I finally won 13-12 or something stupid in the shootout.

It's not as bad as it was because it cheated in previous games. There was a team in pro evo 2 or 3 called WEU (i think). If you looked at their team in the first weeks of the season they were standard players with most ratings being 60-70 then when I played them their rating were ALL 95+ but dropped again after I played.

It seems that Konami want to keep the game honest by cheating and increasing teams abilities at key stages of the season rather than just being consistent.

It's a poor show when a game cheats because I always wonder what exaclty it's trying to gain......don't get me started on EA's Cricket games.

I think it cheats to make the game more harder and difficult, i mean the higher the difficulty level, the more the cheating

It's not really cheating, teams often raise their game for cup finals. The form has alot to do with it as well sometimes my players cant string two passes together, just like in real life

I apologise in advance that i'm totally on one about this today !!

A whole team being better from one game to the next is not raising their game. I don't care if Bill Shankley is their manager, it doesn't and wouldn't happen in real life. It's pointless lazy programming to just make wholesale increases in the teams ability when key games arise rather than them just being a consisitently good team who, like you say are slightly human, ergo are prone to the odd mistake. And to expect people to just bend over and take it really is a pi55 take.

Another one is that it doesn't get the offiside rule. A player cannot be deemed offside if the ball is played backwards to him. Intead Konami thinks f*ck that offside rule we've got a fancy red line to show you and we'll bloody well use it.

I also consider having 7 defending players chasing after me down like an angry mob after I've skinned one of their men slightly unrealistic. Not cheating mind, just weird.

It's a sad state of affairs. Because I love that bloody game !

The overall aggression and magic dribble/tackle/block/loose-ball-recovery abilities of AI frustrates me to no end.

That, and their keeper picks the ball up seemingly illegally (which isn't allowed to happen with my keeper) far too often.

The AI is fucked i get matches where my players control and pass the ball perfectly and move how i want them too, everything goes right its like making love to a beautiful woman. then!! you get games where my players turn into wife beaters and can't do nothin right, passes go to the wrong players or don't go nowhere. they won't control the ball for shit and knock it to far infront of them. and i am doing the same exact things in all the matches. condition can have affect but even the ones on red will play shit and viseversa.

What you said also happens when i play pes5, especially in normal random matches and most times in my master league matches, so it looks like it is not pes2008 that started the problem.

I saw this interview in a playstation magazine, it was a pes developer saying that some matches are scripted to make the game really hard, like when France plays against russia, obviously pes will give France the stronger advantage in a final or semi final cause of its players and skills.

That happens to me also.
This is one of the most cheating Pro evo games.

@ oseedo You're not alone.

yeh its a common problem and i am used to it, i can immediately tell when the computer is going to step up their game and i find it a challenge. the only thing is can think of when this happens is their arrows are really high and most of them are red arrows while our teams are fairly normal.

Liverpool lost to Barnsely last season, then played AC Milan (wasnt it?) and beat them!

Sh*t happens, especially in football. It would be a very boring game if you just beat the same teams everytime god dam time.!!!!!!

Yes I understand what you're saying but if you look at the vast difference in the Liverpool team between the fixtures you'll see that Liverpool played a somewhat weakened team with an eye on the Inter Milan fixture.
I however played a strong side in both matches.
Football wouldn't be a boring game if you just won every game because what happens is that other teams strengthen their squads season by season and start to mount a challenge against the top teams. They don't however inject their players with steroids when key games arise in order that they can compete. All anyone wants from the game in consistency. There's no fun or even challenge in a team suddenly becoming as good as 1970's Brazil. You might as well just toss a coin before the match to decide the result.

I don't think you lot should be complaining too much - Master League is far worse when you win the title about 10 games after the mid-season transfer window and you win every cup with a reserve team.

I know that sounds quite snobby, but I refuse to not play at my best in any game, but this means that it's a thoroughly boring game at times.

Yes it does happen in reality and I like it in the game, but it's annoying to see the opposition running faster than you when you know that their stats are much weaker. That's cheating

Overcoming the cheating (as some have indicated that they can do regularly) and there actually not being a computer cheating issue are not the same thing at all.

I support the initial poster and would like to see better programing, rather than plug-and-chuck stat boosting for the opponent or auto-nerfing the player's team in order to simulate a closer match.

No, it's called excitement. If you think your team should win just because their stats are better then, as someone else alluded to earlier, decide the winner beforehand and don't play the game!

It's sport, and this game is meant to be a representation of it.
