Hi! I'm new to this forum. Thanks goes to whoever created this website. It is nice to have a forum where people can meet and discuss their favourite game (btw, I am referering to pes3 here).

That said, I was wondering... Why aren't we on a usenet newsgroup? Is it just me, or is it a real mess to find your way through these forums? Either you have many small threads that take ages if you want to check all of them for new messages, or you have one 30-page thread with everyone asking the same questions and everyone giving answers to everyone at the same time, and it is really confusing.

On usenet you
- have multilevel threads, that is you can see what message another message is a reply to.
- can mark a message read so that it is hidden and you only have to read it once (Is it true you can't do that in this forum, or did I just fail to find out how? This is an indispensable feature.)
- use your preferred newsreader, like Outlook or Mozilla or something (or just use google groups from the web.)

What do you think, is a newsgroup a good idea or a bad idea? Does anyone know how to make a new newsgroup called e.g. alt.games.pro-evolution-soccer or something (I don't know how I it's done but maybe somebody else does)?

(I'm not here to pick on anyone, but I know for myself that I don't have the time and energy to follow the forums on pesinsight.com (or pesfan.com for that matter) for the above mentioned reasons. On the other hand a newsgroup is easy to follow, even with hundreds of new messages a day.)

all of the pes forums are like this, its just the way it is.... they are made to be a part of the website, not an external feature which is what they would be if we did what you suggest.

vbulletin are widely accepted as the best forum technology available, and we have to agree (thats why we use them :)). its perfectly simple to follow stuff here, you see a thread you wanna read, you read it. if you dont, you dont. simple :)

Yeah, I see an interesting thread and read it.
The next day I read the thread again to check for new messages.

I'll do this until I think the thread has died.

This makes it very time consuming to follow more than a couple of threads regularly.

In a newsgroup you would only see the /new/ messages, and you can always search through older messages with google. Makes things so very very very much simpler, and would probably do the PES community good.

There would still be web sites like this with flags, kits, transfer lists and so on.

Have fun!
