Would you buy a PS3 for 600 euro?

Today news surfaced that Sony's PS3 could cost as much as 600 euro when it will be released at the end of the year.

With Xbox 360 (at that time) already out for a year, thus having an extensive library of (good) games, and most likely to drop in price near the PS3's launchdate, do you think you would rather buy a 600 Euro PS3, or a 250-300 Euro (complete) Xbox360 plus a bunch of budget games!? Or perhaps even get Nintendo's new console (Revolution) instead?

If it would cost 600 euro, you'd have to be a massive fanboy to purchase one on the release date. I've never been awfully fond of PlayStation games, I lean more towards the Xbox. I got my PS2 for free with a mobile phone, otherwise I probably wouldnt have one.

In other words, 600 euro's is madness.Although, if you consider; it has parts that only exist in very high-end PC's.

Yea I do agree that it is pricy but the games that you can get for it and the extras, its gonna be better than XBox360.

Well I guess it comes down to how soon you will get a PS3. Me personally, I will wait atleast 6-9 months after it's out before buying one. Hopefully the cost will be less and have some good games for it.

Current rumours about PS3 are not good, despite Sony making a loss, the price tag could be anything from £400 - £450 and might not be out till early next year over here. Plus I don't like the idea of games being £50, they can be expensive enough as it is.

Sorry I seem to have missed the point of this thread, my opinion on 360 is not great. I don't think I'll get one and I'm also interested in Revolution, you can never write Nintendo off!

As for my vote, I go for the last option, that is of course if PES isn't released on it as a launch game.

Personally, I have a Cube and an Xbox. Actually, the Cube is my girlfriends cause I bought it for her, but it's in my home (she doesnt have a TV in her room). I've never been very interested in the PS1 and/or the PS2, apart froma couple of games that seem pretty cool (God of War), so I'm very very satisfied with my Xbox.

So since I've had a lot of fun with Xbox (1), I AM interested in X360, and a lot less interested in the PS3. However at the moment a 360 is still too expensive for my liking so I'm waiting a few months before it drops in price...

I doubt I'll ever get a PS3, and I also have high doubts about getting a revolution (the N64 an Cube were both pretty dissapointing).

Could the 600 euro priceticket be the end for Sony, if Microsoft drop the price of the 360 near the PS3 release??? Personally, I think so. Why would anyone buy a 600 euro console if they can get a 250/300 euro console with simular stats and a whole range of good games!?
Just for Blu-Ray? I dont think so.

Early rumours state that the next next-gen gta might be PS3 exclusive, although I can prob. see it being on 360 six months to a year later.

This could see me getting a 360 for the time being i mean 600 euros come on only nutters would pay that, and ther is no proof if blu ray will even be a success in the first place, lk at UMD movies for the PSP!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will end up getting a PS3 i know but only when the price drops to about 250 quid or something!!!!!!!!!!

Why bother getting it straight away? The games will be limited and there won't be any benchmark for whether these games are good. I will wait for there to be plenty of games and they all cost about £30. That way I will feel like I amgetting value for my money.

Also I can see:
It selling out,
Then there being a panic,
Then it won't return to English shops for 2 or 3 months,
Then there will be a story of a man spending a gizillion pounds to buy one off of Ebay,
By then hopefully the price will be low.

Maybe in the distant future I might get a revolution. Like for example now a Nintendo DS costs more than a Gamecube. I wouldn't mind spending maybe £60 - £80 on a revolution, once it has been out for 2 years or so.
