thanks miggy. ps3slim will obviously be better for size, noise and how much energy it ears but i still prefere the look of the chunky ps3

Cheers Mullet, Miggy. I think i'll just throw money at a PS3 get some decent warranty time. I can't be arsed spending money to get it fixed and were it might go tits up again.

Just out of interest guys, if one was to buy the new ps3 slim version would u be able to transfer data ie trophies from your old ps3 to ur new one??

I have 100% on the ashes game :) wouldnt want to do that again if i was to buy the new one.

I think there must be a way. I'm sure you can back up your HDD of your PS3. Best try google to find an answer. Playstation Official forums are probably your best place.

i have to hand it to sony releasing this slim unit. why couldn't the slim have been the one that was released a couple years ago ? i reckon this slim unit has been in the pipeline for quite some time. kinda like few years back with the lord of the rings, they released one dvd knowing fine well that an extended dvd was due out later in the year. very bad example i know but i still think sony are fly doing this. they know the fat ps3s will lose value and soon more and more people will have a ps3, which is surely a blow to the xbox...i must admit, i'm gonna get a ps3 now

Anyone know if the the hard drive from the Chunky PS3 is the same size (height, width, etc) as that of the new Slim PS3?

I'm not interesting in getting a Slim. Chunky does me fine, and shall do unless it ever buys the farm. But if that ever occurs and my warrenty is gone (most likely; two months remaining) it'll be a choice between transfering data or simply swapping out the hard drives. I've been considering swapping out my 80GB hard drive for a larger one. But only after the warrenty goes, and if I could really be doing with that bit more memory space.

Do Sony offer warrenty renewals by any chance? I wouldn't mind paying for a few more years cover, incase the worst should happen.

I think there is an option for the cover i think you pay monthly though.

nah man not really. ive basically had the same one for around 4 years now. i've a case swap and a graphics card swap too. only reason i havent got a new 1 already is cause im scared i'll get sucked into games i know i'll love like COD, left 4 dead. during my cs 1.6 days i barely seen sunlight...i only wanna have time for pes

The slim has less features.

Got a brand new 60gb original model recently after mine failed. Had to pay £145 though like, but worth it for being able to play old games.
